It is going good. I got the 781 heads back from the machine shop and they look great. Block and rotating assembly will be headed to the machine shop next time I am home from work in about 20-25 days. Block is getting the main caps line honed. Cylinders are great, they are just getting cleaned up.

Here is a rundown of what it will be. I will probably forget something but here goes...

Steel Crank
Scat I-beam rods (floaters)
Speed Pro Pistons (9.5:1)
Comp Cams xe274h (274/286, 230/236 @ .050)(552/555 lift)
New valve springs that match the cam
Harland sharp full roller rockers
Comp magnum push rods
Edelbrock RPM Air Gap manifold
750cfm Holley w/ vacuum secondaries
Edelbrock water pump
Pertronics flame thrower billet distributor(multi spark)

Got my motor mostly put back together yesterday. I taped everything up and painted it today.I love the way it is looking. I need to order my valve covers and air cleaner and I will have everything. My oil pan is still at the powdercoater so I just have a few odds and ins to finish up this week.

They are stock right now. I kindof wish I would have went ahead and opened them up with the bigger valves. But, I figure they will make plenty of power the way they are. If I'm not happy with them when I get it driving I will rip them back off and have them opened up.

It is Duplicolor Cast Iron. I kindof wanted it to look like nothing was done to it once it is in the engine bay.

I was kindof considering painting that shiny new intake the same color. To maybe kindof give it that "stock" look. What do you guys think? I love the way it looks now but I know they always end up stained and stuff.

I got the "wrinkle black" ones from Proform. They say chevrolet in red. They are on the way. They don't make a timing chain cover for BBC so I had a stock one powdercoated wrinkle black. I know you can't tell in the pic but it has a rough texture to it. They are also doing my oil pan the same right now.

I have painted a few motors that same color, if the engine bay is a lighter color (ie not black) it will really stand out but still give you that stockish look. If the bay is black the cast iron color gets lost and just ends up looking like another motor. Just something to think about. Happy to see the frame being put to good use. Looking really good.

The bay will most likely end up being dark blue. I am kindof going for a "stock look" with this truck so I almost want it to look very average on first glance. I thought this color would accomplish that.

I was planning on having my serpentine brackets powdercoated a cast aluminum color and then have the pulleys done in satin black. I was kindof thinking that having the brackets the same color as the intake would pull it together.

The more I think about it the more I think the intake would look good the same color as the block. I am just afraid that gas or oil might eat at the paint on the intake and really make it look crappy.

The frame is definitely getting put to good use man. I am holding to have it back on the road by fall.

Ya true but if it gets on the aluminum it will do the same so its like a bad case of catch 22

I kind of like the contrast that the alum intake gives. Then if you add some more alum colored brackets and stuff I think it will look sweet. By the time you get all the lines, hoses, accessories, and air cleaner on there it won't stand out near as much as it does there in that pic.

Nice work and your dads pickup looks sharp! Your motor build is similar to mine except I ended up going with a stroker crank. I'll be interested to see how you like the Spintech's. I've listened to them on youtube and they sound good.

Got a few more goodies in. I am headed back out to work for 20+ days so hopefully I will get some more done next time I am home. Intake, oil pan, pulleys, and serpentine brackets are all at the powdercoater so I should have all that back when I come home. Anyway, until next time...
