Did you check out the cab depth left over for the driver? If I remember right from the other project I saw where someone tried to use the newer dash in a square body the newer dash is so deep that the steering wheel ends up really close to the driver so it makes for a really tight fit. I hope it works out for you.

Any pics?

are you using the 97 heater core box or the 07? how well does the 07 fit is it narrower than the 97 or longer??

Its just a 97 350 motor so it bolts right in the only thing I need to do is wire the motor and tranny... but if I put that 93 cummins motor in that im trying to buy off a friend Im not sure what needs to be done to make it fit but know they will fit fit in

Looks like it fits good, what are you going to do about the gap in the front corners?

Looks great in there. I forgot you were working on a crew cab. A regular cab can't handle that little bit of extra depth. Just not much extra space to deal with. Nice job.

Re: 85 crew cab with 97 vortex motor and dash

That dash looks so much better than the 99-2006 dash. Glad they made the change.

Did you get all the stuff that goes in it or will you be finding / fabricating filler pieces for all the openings?

I do have everything for the dash and then some... I completely gutted the interior of a 07 avalanche so I have all the wiring, door panels, seats, you name it I got it!

if you make a filler piece will you attach it or just make it fit in and have seem lines? if you attach it wont you have to paint the whole hash to make it look right? but if you put some kind of a tweeter box in there then you wouldnt have to attach it so you wouldnt have to repaint the whole dash.

You really scored to get all those parts with the dash plus all the interior pieces too. Great find.

I'm not too worried about the corners... I think I'm going to just put the tweeters up there but I'll cross that road when I get there. But whatever I do I don't think I'll make it part of the dash. I'm going to keep it pieces that just pop into place.

Ya I know how to spell it. it was just the stupid auto correct... i didn't think it was that big of a deal to correct but maybe i should because a lot of people like to point it out. Plus I might be getting a cummins anyways. So I'm thinking about changing the title of the build. Does anyone know if i can do that or do I have to start a new build thread?

That dash looks pretty sweet, be interested to see it finished. You also have a nice truck to work with.
