Re: Show us your projects

Jspeter51

I see that the price on the window was $500. Did you get it for that?
Seems like a good deal if you did. I would like to get a burb in the next few years for my next project.

Good luck
Marc

Yes I agree !! I asked the Moderator if we could have a 47-59 suburban & panel sub forum

& they replied that there was not enough interest ???. Not to be a instigator but if they got enough requests...????

Re: Show us your projects

I'd like that, but atleast they gave us projects and builds sub category. I think also it might take away from that category itself if there were too many sub cats. Its a toss up but me personally I'd like to see and all AD truck only category, but I understand they gotta keep it clean with less categories.

Re: Show us your projects

@youngrodder I did not pay $500... I actually got it for less. The guy I got it from was unloading all of his projects per his wife, and since I had shown interest in the Burb, i was his first stop. I also have a bit of a line on another one as of yesterday, so we will see how that goes. BTW, I love your truck!!!!

@99tolife I totally agree!!! Seems like there arent as many of us, but they (along with panels and the canopy express) are the coolest vehicles from that period IMO.

That hurts you could have left it at $500 that made me feel bad enough. ha ha
Good luck on your other lead. If you find yourself with one two many burbs you know where I'm at...

Re: Show us your projects

Suburbans or anything different is really cool, imo. I mean, most of us are building older stuff because we're can't get with the plain new stuff, so it just takes it further.

With the right stance, some clean up and a late model drivetrain and a couple creature comforts, should be super cool!

Re: Show us your projects

These were taken about 10 years ago. This is my first car, I got it in 1990. Bought it from the original owner for $300. It had a 250/3spd on the column. Now it has a 327 with a 92 V8 Camaro T5, 4wheel disc brakes and a few other unmentionables .

Awesome! I bought my first car in 94 and it was a 72 Nova for $350. It was wrecked though.

Re: Show us your projects

I'd go with the first pic plus the chrome grill added.

All look great though, just taste differences.

Re: Show us your projects

I've been working on getting the fenderwell headers to fit. I'm going to hold off until I can get it to my Sons' shop to finish the drivers side. The passengers side was fine and needed no changes.
The E-brake is in and connected, the B&M ratchet shifter is connected and working, the fuel delivery system is 90% done now, all the wiring is complete, the seat is upholstered, and carpet is all that is left. I need tunes too yet, bleed the brakes, fill the fuel tank, fill the radiator, hook up some mufflers to the headers and cut-outs and then it'll be off to the Dyno to fire it up and get the initial break in done.
The motor is a '69 396 .060 over (408 c.i.) with lots of attention to horsepower internally. The TH350 is built w/extra clutches, a shift kit, new internals and a 10" 3200 stall converter, posi 3.73 rear w/ ladder bars and disc brakes, front suspension is an '80 Camaro full IFS w/pwr steering.
I had to go to a 195-45 15 tire to clear the headers.
Once back from the Dyno, I'll put the rest of the sheet metal together and start putting some miles on it.
They're building a new 1/4 mile track not far from where I live and it opens this coming summer of 2013...can't wait.
later

Re: Show us your projects

Took some new pics over the weekend, but some more work has been done since. No headlights since I took them out to wire them up and found serious rust and screws that help the headlamp retainers in also held the buckets in the fenders. lol, makes sense just because it's the last thing the seller had done that I have to redo.

Dash closer to complete.

Re: Show us your projects

Been a member for a while but just got my first truck last Saturday.
Looking forward to learning all about it. Runs, drives, stops. And I like the patina it currently has.

Came with a lot of goodies too...

Re: Show us your projects

That is a nice truck, wish I bought mine in that condition instead of the mess I have to deal with and redo from bumper to bumper what had been "professionally customized", lol.

I would get it some better brakes, drop it 4-5 inches and some painted wheels with chrome rings and caps, DONE!

Maybe some stereo and A/C equipment too?

Re: Show us your projects

Thanks. Just got it all licensed today. Brakes and fixing the steering column (it's a little loose and the truck drifts a bit as you drive) are first priority right now. Then there's some rust pockets to address. I still need to sort through all the goodies it came with and decide what should go on it straight away and what can wait for a full restoration down the road. Fun times
