2000 Silverado serpentine belt replacement

I have a buddy with a 2000 chevy that needs the main drive belt replaced. it has the 5.3 liter V8 and he can't find the tensioner. Anybody know how to loosen the old belt? I haven't looked myself and he doesn't do a lot of mechanical work. Any help would be appreciated.

have him replace the AC belt while hes at it, they are recommended every 50K miles or so

It's basically just a spring loaded tensioner. I forget if this is one with a bolt type head, or just a 3/8s square bit. The long serpentine tool like they sell in the parts store helps a ton on these.

I've done mine twice, a socket works fine, no special tools needed
