What kind of wood looks the best with and orange truck?? My 72 will have a flatbed that has a wooden floor and i am gonna use 1 1/2" flatbar between the boards. But I would just like your opinions on what color of bed wood looks best with orange. Do you think I should just paint it all black, or should it be a natural wood color? All opinions are always more than welcome

I think that the lighter colors would really look sweet with an orange truck. If it were me, I'd would go with white pine or something like that if I wasn't going to haul anything. If you want something a little tougher, ash would work pretty good as well.

One thing you may wanna try..but do it on a test piece first to see how you like it...why not get some orange candy paint and spay the wood with that?....If you chose a light colored wood, it would give a matching orange tint to the wood...but would show the wood grain pattern....just a thought....always gotta be different!!

I was reading an article the other day about the new coposite style decking material that is being used on house decks, and it got me to thinking about other uses, like a trailer or truck bed. The stuff is supposed to be impervious to weather and pretty tough also. It comes in several colors as well. Like I said, it was just a thought, don't know if it would be practical. Something to consider though.

i have seen it before and it's definately the way to go if you are building a deck nowadays.it's double the cost of pressure treated lumber but it comes with a 25 year warranty. I am just using pressure treated 2x6 spruce that will be carriage bolted down to my frame and has the flatbar strips between the boards. I was thinking of a light natural color of spruce.

I seen that stuff my neighbor put it on his deck, I think that would work great, as long as your not all hung up on original looks

If you are concerned about warpage you might want to rip those 2x6's down the middle flip the grains glue the 2 pieces back together and run them through a planner if you have the tools or know someone that does.
