Re: Chevy Sport Truck questions

I have a sport. No diffrence besides a trim package and wheels. The trim package includes color of vehicle and other color for example black and red, body colored grille and factory fog lamps. Switch in dash. Also with chrome wheels an color bumpers. Not a lot diffrent besides color scheme and some accessories.

I do believe the later Sports received the ZQ8 suspension. Not sure about the earlier ones.

Maybe there is no difference but just messing around I raced another 89 with the same 350 and I left behind like he was standing still (looked like he never left the start line)

Re: Chevy Sport Truck questions

Ok Guys I just picked up a 91 Sport truck 350 5 speed but i have a question maybe someone can answer me... The truck I have is a chevy cheyenne with RPO code BYP..I also have the original window sticker. I have never seen a cheyenne sport truck. It has no power windows, no carpet. Has anyone else seen this? Thanks

Re: Chevy Sport Truck questions

Welcome to the board, and check out post 155 on page 7 for pics of a Sport with crank windows and no A/C. The Sport package (BYP option code) apparently could be applied to any short fleet regular cab truck, regardless of what other option packages it had. Most of them, though, were optioned as Silverados. We'd love to see some pics of your truck!

I have a 95 gmc k1500 very nicely optioned out extended cab,Sport package, z-71 package, 4x4, G80 limited slip rear end, power everything inside, A/C, Leather steering wheel, factory tach, driver convenience package, power windows and door locks, cruse control, Abs breaks, bucket seats. 7.73 gears, 350ci v8 and auto trans. factory tinted glass. just to name a few

I purchased the truck with several things wrong with it. had to put a transmission radiator fuel pump and fuel gauge sending unit in it. bought it with the intention of re-selling it. but now that i have it all ready to go and listed im kinda hoping it doesn't sell.

Here is my sport

I just found this thread and read the WHOLE thing! great info guys! Anyways... You say this EXT cab sport is a 95.. but it has the old mirrors and interior.. Could someone explain this..?

I'd like an explanation too. Something isn't right.

Yeah Hangster, something different about that. Only guess is somewhere along the line it was mistitled. What does the cab VIN say it is?

Late 1994 were titled as 1995. I have one with a build date 10/94 but it has a 1995 title. The early mirrors can be explained by the fact that the sport mirrors were crap to tow with and went to junkyard and got a cheep set.

Build date really has nothing to do with the model year. A manufacturer can start building next year's models on January 1 of this year. So, a vehicle could have a build date of 1/1/2014 and actually be a 2015 model.

All 1995 trucks got the new interior.

Ezrider_92356, look at your VIN. Look at the 10th digit (8th digit from the right). I'm almost willing to bet it's a 4, making it a '94.

Correct, in GM's case sometime in September is their changeover. Keith Seymore explained it in another thread in the 73-87 section:

Sure. Sept 16, 1985 calendar year would be the start of the 1986 model year. The new models typically come out in the September-ish timeframe.

A relatively early build, apparently. VINs start at 100001 and yours is in the 113,000 range.

My truck was built a year later (almost to the day) in Flint Michigan. Built on Sept 29, 1986 (1987 model) and they had already built more than 317,000 units in Flint.

August/September is when you usually start seeing next year's models showing up, but even earlier is not uncommon. For example, the 2015 fullsize SUVs have been on the lots for about 3 months now and the 2015 HDs have been out nearly as long. They did the same thing in 2006 for the 2007 SUVs.

Okay, I didn't think I was wrong about the interior changing in that year.
