Need advice 56 panel

Found a 56 panel for sale. Two biggest issues are rust in the lower panel and rear doors are really rough. I've been told no one makes replacement patch panel or doors. What are my options for repairing these short of taking it to a shop and paying someone else to do it? I have friends who can help with body work. But if we don't have any parts to replace with what are we to do? TIA.

Re: Need advice 56 panel

Don't be intimidated, most body work is just practice and attention to detail. I am always amazed at how many of the pros still use knees, edge of the bench and feet to bend and fit panels. With a good bench vice and an assortment of clamps, vice grips and various steel angles, different dia. pipe, etc. you can do a lot. Use cardboard to make templates and get curves right. Easy to add or remove material with sissors! MartinSR has a good writeup on templates in the paint and body section at Chevelles.com. If you look at the build thread here, most of us are using trial and error to get stuff to fit even with new patch panels. Dive in!
