72' step side rear end

have a 72' step side with a leaf spring rear end and am trying to lower it. I have installed new 3" lowering springs but that did not do it for me. I am considering changing the rear to coil springs. Is the rear end width the same for a fleet side and a step side? How hard with this conversion be?
Anybody got any better ideas? I'm getting tired of throwing my money at it and not getting the desired results.
Please help with any suggestions!

Thanks

What are you disappointed with? Did it not drop the rear 3"

Stock springs with the housing flipped to the top will give you a 6" drop. You can get longer shackles that will drop it another 1 1/2".

That means I would have to buy another set of springs and a flip kit. No thanks.

Didn't drop at all. Still 3 1/2" from top of tire to fender.

Re: 72' step side rear end

I never throw anything away on an old car. I assumed that you had kept your stock springs...

But if the "lowered" springs are the same height, you can do the axle flip on them. The lowering shackle is another option. These are 2 1/4" springs note when you order the shackle. Early Classic Enterprises my recommendation.

I bought a DJM flip kit from Summit for the rear. Everything else from ECE.

I'm getting ready to put the lowering kit on my '69 short step. I have ECE 2 1/2" spindles and 2" small block springs for the front and am doing the flip in the rear. My truck has the optional "heavy duty" leafs which have 4 leafs and an overload rather than 3. If the flip doesn't lower it enough (and it's going to lower it a bunch...) I have the shackles as well.
