Re: What's your Winter Goal?

My winter goal is to have it driveable by winter so that I don't have to spend my third year in a row on the back patio. Don't get me wrong, I love being outside..... just not when it's 0 degrees.

I hope to unload some of the extra things in my garage to finance a Vintage Air install in time for next summer.

Re: What's your Winter Goal?

I have a big list for this winter, but whatever I do tackle needs to be done so I can drive it again next summer, complete list in post 1 of my new build thread (link in my signature).

Very obvious discrepancy on that list, the absence of beer, for shame, for shame

Re: What's your Winter Goal?

My "To Do" list for my '65 (in no specific order):

*Install new engine and transmission; uncertain yet what to use, I have several options available.

*Rebuild and install square-body front crossmember to allow disc brakes and 3 more inches of drop.

*C-notch the rear frame, and drop the axle 2 more inches.

*Clean up and instal the junkyard sway bars I picked up a couple years ago.

*New tires for the set of slot mags I had cleaned up and surfaced, finally got them back after almost a year and a half.....

*Clean up, repaint, and detail the engine compartment so my buddy can take a second shot at his pinstriping job (his request, not mine).

*Clean out the cab, possibly repair the rust on the floors, and install carpet and hopefully a new radio.

*Install Caddy tail lights

*Hopefully paint and some more pinstriping once the weather warms up in the spring again. This one is a big maybe, not going to make or break me either way.

Looks like I didn't get this goal done last year.
So this along with getting my th350 I bought is my goal for this winter.

edit:
Going back and looking at my LostMy65 thread, I see I ended doing a lot of needed repairs.

Oh, and I really need concrete in my barn.
I'm tired of crawling around on the gravel.

I plan on doing mine in small steps while still driving it. Weekend goals aRe to run brake lines along side the oe ones but not "hook them up" and pancake an extra crossmember I got from LT1burb. Next weekend assemble crossmember with new dropped spindles, discs and misc items. Next weekend mount CaptainFab steering bracket and rebuilt steering gear , slip shaft, run lines and mount the powersteering pump ( I have everything laid out and all bolts and brackets sourced and mocked up).Next weekend focus on rear disc brake swap, 2" blocks ( notch already installed) and mount rear air bags controlling them with manual schraders. Following weekend install front crossmember attatch brake lines and dual master ,again running front on manual schraders. Next weekend mount tank, compressor, manifold and run wires. Following weekend mount gAuges and hook everything together. I will have 7 to 8 weekends with a Thanksgiving and a Disney Christmas vaca, but my wife works every weekend in December so I figure mid January my list should be complete!

Re: What's your Winter Goal?

Not much for me...I mainly get things done faster during the summer when work fires up! For me I plan on fabricating a spare tire carrier bracket for the fender cutout. I have the long bed version so a stock carrier won't work. Also driving it.. and maybe getting a new set of valve springs for the 292. Pulling the oil pan, painting it and cleaning it out; while replacing the rear main seal and pan gasket. Also gives me a chance to see what the motor looks like on the inside after all those years!

Re: What's your Winter Goal?

I usually don't want my truck tore down in the summer, and I usually have too many outside projects going on in the summer. I park my truck away for the winter, so it's a good time for me to get things done on my truck.

That makes sense.
I buy parts in the summer to tide me over.

Re: What's your Winter Goal?

Get exhaust built and installed. Having new brake lines custom made for my disc swap. Then over the winter I plan on swapping out all the rubber seals and new wood in the bed.

Re: What's your Winter Goal?

Well since I got my furnace hooked up and working last winter ,I hope to continue a project I started 2 years ago on Jan. 1st and worked on for 4 months then have not touched it since then.. Life , Family and being self employed have gotten in the way...Ambition has been fading as I get older.. hope to find an elixir that will help me to get motivated but not cause my heart to explode or beat out of time...
