Bad Fuel Pump???
Im researched but couldnt find what I am looking for. Im really new with engines so bare with me. Today, I brought my truck out of storage and went to fire it up and it would turn over fine but wouldn't fire up. I checked my fuel filter and saw no fuel was going through it. My guess is the fuel pump went.... What is your opinion?
If so, what is the max psi I should be using with a new fuel pump? Whats your opinion on this one? http://www.summitracing.com/parts/EDL-1721/

if its a mechanical pump just stick it on there as a stock pump if its electric its like 4-5 psi i think for carbed

which truck? i'll assume the '67...
if you have one of those clear filters before the carb and you dont see fuel in it when cranking, you definitely have a lack of fuel issue. 1. Are you sure there's fuel in the tank? 2. Do you have an inline pressure gauge? If so, what is the psi? 3-7psi is the normal operating range for a carb. 3. Do you have an aftermarket electric fuel pump? if so, you should definitely hear it running. |

If it's been in storage, I'd be sure to crank it for a while to get the air out of the lines. Might not be a bad pump. Just might need primed. Another trick is to unhook the input line at the pump and see if you can get some fuel flowing from gravity there.

gas goes bad rapidly now// try new freash gas after you've checked to see that you have spark

Yes this is for my 67.
The first thing I did was put fresh fuel in it yesterday. I took off the fuel pump yesterday too, is there anything visually that would show a bad pump? I also stored it on jackstands with the front probably raised a tad higher then the rear, would that have any effect? (maybe thinking all the fuel flowed back into the tank and needs to be primed) I'll put it back on and try all the suggestions and let you know how it goes today. Thanks for the input.
