Anyone going to Barrett Jackson in Scottsdale next weekend?

I'm planning to go there. My little brother is going to bid on a car.
Would love to meet up any fellow member going there.

Can't wait to see what the Jimmy's will go for.

Re: Anyone going to Barrett Jackson in Scottsdale next weekend?

Wish I could go but no dice. I took a look and there are four or five 69-72 Blazers and Jimmys on the docket. Most of them are restomods, including this one:

https://www.automobilemag.com/news/v...on-scottsdale/

It will be interesting to see if the current bull market for vintage SUVs continues to escalate.

Re: Anyone going to Barrett Jackson in Scottsdale next weekend?

I land Thursday morning. Going Thursday to Saturday. Flying out Sunday.
Got my bidder paddle, buying something for my little brother.

Any one local with recommendations for a great brewery to stop by at? My buddy is a beer maker and we both like to check out new breweries or has with great taps.

For good beer, you need to come to Canada. Tons of micro-breweries.

Re: Anyone going to Barrett Jackson in Scottsdale next weekend?

I saw that! It was restored and had a crate engine in it. I thought they did a nice job on that truck!
$78k with the auction fees.

The resto mod (lifted etc) k5's went for high dollars too...

Next few days will be interesting!

Do Jimmys all have GMC stamped in the grille AND letters on the hood right above it too? That doesn't look right to me

Re: Anyone going to Barrett Jackson in Scottsdale next weekend?

I have a 72, it doesn't have that grille. Here is mine when I got it. 100% original and as it came out of the factory. The black paint that normally is filled into the recesses of thelogo and in the grille has faded in this pic.

Re: Anyone going to Barrett Jackson in Scottsdale next weekend?

I was bidding on a Lincoln continental for my brother. I was willing to go to maybe $70k. It went for $112k. Prices are very high across the board in my opinion. I saw a nice restomod 40s power wagon from a company that updates them. Nice interior, Cummins diesel, integrated 360 cameras, turn on the turn signal and you get the camera for that side activated on the dash. Looks well done. $300k! Yikes!

Re: Anyone going to Barrett Jackson in Scottsdale next weekend?

Blazers and Jimmys generally killed it at B-J this sale:

Lot 452 $71,500
Lot 719 $44,000
Lot 729 $47,300
Lot 948 $72,600
Lot 1069 $132,000
Lot 1151 $77,000
Lot 1214 $44,000
Lot 1591 $71,500

All prices include buyers' premium. The 8 sales prices above average out to $70,000. All vintage 4 X 4s sold very strongly in this auction. I know that many of you don't believe B-J is representative of the market for our vehicles and further don't like high prices for them, but c'est la guerre. Their values continue to head north.

Re: Anyone going to Barrett Jackson in Scottsdale next weekend?

Barrett-Jackson is definitely not the market...does it affect the market, it certainly does. Everything that these rich idiots do influences the market. And let us be real....the majority of folk at Jackson are not your average Joe or Jane....they have money.

The major way you can see that it isn't the real market is that almost every dealership that has our trucks posted for insane amounts of money (Barrett-Jackson type money), still have them. I have seen and continue to see the SAME Blazers for sale both 4x4 and 2wd over and over.

It's just me but, unless it is 100% period correct (which where is the fun in that), I would never pay over $40k for a K5 in any trim, with a generic 350 crate motor in it. If you're over $40k, the paint and interior need to be on-point and the drivetrain better be modern or $$$$ HP/Cool factor.

I like that everything is appreciating but if **** ain't selling in the real world consistently at these prices... they need to get a clue.
