D60/D70 swap

I found a good deal on a dana60 front and dana70 rear diff from a 91 dodge...

What is all needed to use these in place of a Spicer 10bolt and a 9.5" 14bolt?

I was told that the spring perches or whatever they're called would need to be moved, but is it relatively that easy?
Or am I in for an eye opener? o_0

The front springs perches are a 1/2" off,you might be able to move the perch a little to make up for the other perch on the pig.As far as the rear might have to move the perches on it,not sure.

Do you know if I'll have a hard time with steering components?

I don't suppose my drive shafts would still work...?

Worst case, you could need driveshaft mods both ends, steering linkage mods, and possibly some parking brake cobbling. This besides the spring perch mods. None of this is particularly difficult, but it all needs to be considered as part of the total conversion cost.

Re: D60/D70 swap

Another option that keeps popping up is a 250 buck 10.5" 14bolt from the local salvage/pick a part place.

I could probably get a few bucks off for my old diff at a later date, but I'm not sure what kind of shape one of those old crusty specials would be.

So far my front diff works fine so I don't NEED to do anything it it, yet.
The idea of a matching Dana combo just appealed...

What do you guys think would be the easiest to swap and easiest both work and budget wise?

Would one of these wrecker diffs be worth a shot??

Re: D60/D70 swap

I know a D60/D70 is nice, I have that setup. But is it really necessary to go to the D60? Are you planning on running a big tire size and doing the hardcore wheeling? If the answer is no, then I would look for a D44HD and a 14b. It will be far cheaper and less of a headache. Just my two cents.

Re: D60/D70 swap

No I dont need that big of diffs right away as I'm just running 33's right now.

The price just seemed good compaired to the usual $800/per diff that they usually go for here.

That and they were a matching set so no gear changes.

Do you know if the mid 70's 10.5" 14bolts are a dirrect swap for the lesser 9.5" 14bolts, or are shock mounts and such different?
