Missing SPID

Hey guys, I've recently got a little more interested in decoding and checking options on our trucks. So I went out Sat. Morning and wanted to take a peek at my 72.. What I realized was...... IT ISNT EVEN THERE!!😳 I know my truck is correct for the most part because I can trace it back to mid 70s by owners, and the engine codes and such are correct. I would really like to have one !! I searched some and did not find my answer. Can I source this to be made somewhere with no knowledge of the original?? I see they can be re-made, but Mine is totally missing, and no build sheet either.. Any and all help is greatly appreciated ! Thanks

Re: Missing SPID

I do know if it was there it would have an RPO for "idiot performed CUSTOM clearance dash for aftermarket radio option by jack hole..."

Re: Missing SPID

Original build information by VIN is not available for US produced/sold trucks until 1976/1977 model year.

For vehicles produced in Canada or produced in the US for Canadian consumption the information is available through GM of Canada.

http://www.vintagevehicleservices.com/options.html

So, if neither of those help: unless you can find a build sheet you'll just have to guess at what content is correct and make up your own list.

https://www.gmheritagecenter.com/doc...olet-Truck.pdf

Once you have the content decided you can contact site member chipflyer (Jeff) at http://outintheshop.com/ and he can reproduce the label itself for you.

Re: Missing SPID

Thank you for the replies ! Since there is only a small chance to accurately Re-make the original one, I'll just have one made to suit my truck with what it has now and maybe what ill be adding ?? it will never be for sale anyway and I would never try to deceive anyone with it...

Re: Missing SPID

I bought my 68 GMC from the original owner. I doesn't have one either and he said that's the way it was when he bought it new from Rankin Implement of Draper SD 4-23-1968

Re: Missing SPID

Keith Seymore info is correct for info I sourced out. Have a '72 C20 that has had a lot of changes to it and SPID was removed by someone over the yrs. I got the as built info from GM Canada, a bundle of info, was $100. but feel it was a good purchase and am going to have the SPID made to match it although the trk doesn't resemble that at all. Still have to check frame serial number to see if its the frame from the original build
