Charging issues

Info:
1970, C20, BBC, Camper special, original, 7 gauge cluster

I'm trying to get the charging system up and running but no luck.
I jumped the regulator-Red/blue wire-no reading on large red wire at alternator.
I'm taking the new alternator back and getting it checked.

Task done:
Change old alternator-was good but changed out anyway
New external regulator
Task needed:
Moving ground cable from engine block to frame.
Running external regulator ground from battery tray to fender.

Can I delete picture 2 part?
I would like to keep it stock but just might change to internal regulator O'Reilly R111621A.

Picture two is nothing but a switch so you want run both systems are batteries at the same time unless you need them. Its a solenoid to keep the system's separate. There should be another small terminal on it though to cut it on & off. The picture looks like it's hot all the time. At the top of this forum is sticky's go to wiring sticky and look at the color wiring diagrams. It will show you how the factory truck wiring is laid out.

It sucks not being able to hear!

LWB trucks rule, if you don't think so measure your SWB!
After talking to tech support at Air Lift I have found out that the kit I need is 60811. Per the measurements I gave them. Ride height of truck inside spring and inside diameter of springs.

I removed all the wiring for the auxiliary battery.
I also went ahead and deleted the external regulator.
Looks like I might have solved the issues I was having.
Truck is charging and no longer killing my battery overnight.

Deleted the white wire to alternator.
Deleted the black wire going to alternator.
Blue wire to number 1 on alternator.
Red wire to number 2 with jumper to battery.

Lots of reading but I think I got it.

If you strip the wiring out from the old regulator back toward the fuse block you can just plug into the alternator and do away with the jumpers and all that mess.

Here is how I ran my aux batteries for the winch.

I bought those cables from Harbor frieght and ran the red one to my 12 volt contactor under the truck. Then the black one to the battery. I also have a air compressor hooked to it also all ran off relays.
The contactor is controlled by a dash mounted switch to charge the batteries and fill the tank up with a pressure switch to shut it off at 120lbs.
