3 on the tree to floor shift?

New to this, I have a small v8 with 3 on the tree but want to convert to floor shift. Whats the best easy way and affordable?

mr gasket 7667a comes complete with everything needed but its hard to find. old school type parts stores and speed shops carry an equivalent.

I bought the Hurst Indy shifter for mine, but I have a 69 Saginaw tranny in mine. I was not pleased with the Mr Gasket that was in mine. It was very flimsy.

Going cheap will get you aggravated as the thing will start shifting weird on you pretty quick. My Mr Gasket was more ittatating the the 3-on-the-tree lingages.

There are some simple tricks to fix the Mr. G shifters but since the 7667A is hard to find, you need to step up to Hurst.

But just remember, the new shifter won't make it faster shifting but it will make it more precise.

Hurst Mastershift is the way to go. Installed one a few months back.

I have a Hurst 3 spd floor shift i removed from my 64. Replacing the 6 cyl 3 speed with 350/700R4 trans.

Not trying to hijack this thread but I'm wondering if the shift kits and linkages listed and linked above are universal for any 3 speed. Reason I am curious is that I have a 1969 3 speed tranny with a Hurst Indy shift handle and linkage. I am curious if this linkage can be made to fit a 1965 3 speed. I think the 1965 3 speed I have is a shorter transmission.

Mine looks very similar, but it bolts to 3 of the 4 tail mounting bolts

What transmission should I look for , or can I use the same 3 speed tranny?

The problem I ran with my Hurst and the later model synchro (saginaw) transmission, was the emergency brake cross member got in the way. Besides having to move the shifter backwards, I have to cut down the lower ends of the shift controls so they would clear the emergency brake assembly. This also no bench seat as the shift handle wouldn't clear. You can see where the Mr gasket shifter came thru the floor, which required a very bendy shifter handle to clear the bench.

Going back, I think if I still had the original 3 on the tree column, I would have cleaned it up, added some bushings where the rods attach and stayed with a tree shifter.
