Pressure build up in engine!

What is causing pressure to build up in an engine? I have a friend with 84 Short bed Chevy and he is loosing oil. He thinks it is coming out of the dipstick/right side, there is oil on his wires. He has changed the valve cover caskets and the sending unit. He pulled the dust cover underneath and it is dry there so the rear main seal is not leaking.

I told him to check the PCV by feeling if there is suction at the bottom of the PCV while the engine is running, if not replace it!

Thanks

Re: Pressure build up in engine!

Does he have an air breather of some kind on one valve cover and a pcv on the other?

Re: Pressure build up in engine!

Some PCV valves are junk.

I bought autozone brand PCV valve long time ago and I noticed some oil residue and blow by coming out of the oil filler when I took the cap off .

Put my 35 year old crusty AC delco PCV back in and no more blow by pressure. So I bought a new AC delco PCV and all is good..
