Interior for 1970 blazer 2wd help

Need help with my interior. I want it to look as original
As possible . My door panels , seats belts , seat backs , visors are all the medium green colour . My seats and dash pad have all been re done by previous owner and are a green that I believe is not a factory colour at all. Would my seats match the door panels ??? Arm rests also ???

If my seats are to be another colour does anyone know any place that has covers for the utility buckets ??

Re: Interior for 1970 blazer 2wd help

SMS is the way to go on the fabric. I got the most original looking stuff for my 1970 Blazer with utility buckets. I'll try to dig up a pick. Also a brother had a 69 truck short stepper with that same sort of green interior. I say sort of green because it was all different colors of green like I see in your pics. If you were going for original, I guess you just get the closest color you can. SMS is in Oregon. And don't take the first no we don't have anything like that. You may have to talk to several people before geting someone a little more seasoned with the company.

Little spendy tho, Close to $500 for the patterned and plain materials.

Re: Interior for 1970 blazer 2wd help

And after rereading your question, I had to get mine custom sewn because there is nobody out there making utility bucket seat covers. That cost another $800 or so. I will tell you that they are probably the best looking utility buckets in this part of the midwest, as you can see in the pics.

Thank you for the replies. I'm wondering though, would be seats be the darker green or would they be the medium green matching the door panels, seat belts, visors, etc??

Re: Interior for 1970 blazer 2wd help

Thanks! I can see in the pics what looks to me that your seats were recovered with a plain material at some point. Is there any of the original stuff under the covers there now? Do a search of the forum topics and posts of any green interiors, that may help. Then ask if there are any out there that had green interior utility buckets. The guys on this forum are wonderful sources of info but you must feed their need for pics.....so take lots and post often. It is the way we all learn.

Is that dash pad original and uncracked?

Dash pad was recovered in same material. This old photo it looks as the arm rests were the lighter green at one point and possibly the dash pad as well.

I'm just not convinced about the seats. That's the big question for me. Even before they were recovered, they didn't look factory to me.

Re: Interior for 1970 blazer 2wd help

I may have a green dash pad in the garage, OEM at that. I will take pics of it for you. I got an aftermarket pad and painted it as the color of my Blazers interior is not reproduced either. But if it was Black, no problems! I will tell you that the green interiors were ALL over the place. Ask or search for green interior pics.

Re: Interior for 1970 blazer 2wd help

Well, the dash pad and the seats should be pretty close to same color. The originals will be fairly close to what you have now. Might check with SMS. They sent me a few samples of the color I wanted. You could start there. I am a real stock fiend, whatever it came with restore that. I did change my Blazer's color tho to the green you see from the yellow. Interior of mine is about as close as I could get it to original. I really think that color would look good on your Blazer also. You could change yours to the interior color of mine while keeping your exterior color the same. Just an idea.

Yours look great. I love white interior. I was going to do white interior in my 4x4. Considering the rarity of my 2wd blazer, I want to keep it as close to original look as I can. I don't want to change a lot on it.

Mine is not white, it is a light tan color. Very original. I found a thread about a 28K mile Blazer with very similar color scheme as yours.

see if that works.

That would be a very correct color choice for yours if that is what you are going for.

Thank you for that link! Helps a lot.....now I see the medium green utility buckets exist! Exactly what I was wondering. I will try re cover them in that color.....and keep exterior color dark green as it was from factory.

If you are interested I showing me your dashpad and possibly sell it ( if it is that color ) Im very interested!

Re: Interior for 1970 blazer 2wd help

Just a couple tips from my experience with utilities, seat back and seat bottom has different embossing, make sure SMS gives you the right stuff. Also, the seat back has 4 nubs on top, from the spring frame, grind down a little or put extra padding in that area, my original seat was worn thru in that area

BEST of luck, and keep us posted with pics

If you need pics LMK, mine is black

Thanks to all the help.

Where is best place to get medium green cover for rear bench? Most places don't have that color. That SMS place have those too? Any other places have them already sewn ?

Re: Interior for 1970 blazer 2wd help

I think SMS sells fabric not seat covers. So you have to find someone to sew the covers. There's a couple members on this board that do it.

I just don't remember their names

Re: Interior for 1970 blazer 2wd help

You will have to buy enough material from SMS for both fronts and the rear. Then you will have to have them sewn custom by someone. Their is nobody making ready made covers for the utility bucket.

Yeh I understand there are no ready made covers for utility buckets, but how about for a rear bench seat?

Re: Interior for 1970 blazer 2wd help

Not in that material. They do make covers for the rear seat but it will match the CST trim package. Now I have seen this. Some guys find the thinner CST bucket seats for sale and purchase them, change out the utilities and go that route. The CST covers for the back seat will fit the rear seat you have, there is no difference in size of the rear seat, only the trim covers for the plain jane ones (yours and mine) and the CST package. I actually bought a pair of those seats once early on and was going to change out my front seats but changed my mind, glad I did. The utilities are rarer, bigger and more interesting than what everybody else had. There may be a difference in the mounts from the two...and those mounts can be very difficult to find, ie, when you find them they are pricy!
