Chevy 350 with odd distributor

This is an odd issue and having trouble figuring it out. I have a used Chevy 350 crate engine (block #10063606) and the distributor that came with it is model # 1111364. It has a weird bulb coming out of it and a electrical sensor of some kind. It has points, that's where I have a problem. I want to convert this over to electronic ignition.

However, at the end of the distributor it has a rectangle/squarish female slot with the corresponding male part at then end of the oil pump shaft. When trying to find a distributor to replace it no one has that type of connection.

With all the research I've done, some suggest the distributor is out of an early 70's bigger Chevy truck. And maybe the electronic sensor might be an over rev limiter.

Re: Chevy 350 with odd distributor

Looks like it fits '71-'72 350's in C-50/5500 medium duty trucks. The switch and fittings are for a governor. Can't use a regular small block distributor with the oil pump shaft you have, maybe the oil pump is different too? I am not sure. A Pertronix is a great idea if the distributor shaft is still tight.

There is a new one on Ebay right now:

No connection to seller.
