Need help naming a sensor on the shift cable.
Hey everyone, I have a 2000 (obs) k3500 w/4l80e transmission.
I am replacing my shift cable, and noticed a small switch/sensor right under the dash, attached to the same spot as the shift cable is, and therefore It moves in sync with the shift cable. I have issues with my PRNDL Lights not working, and I think this is the culprit. I cant find out what its called though so I can buy one! Its not the range switch, I replaced the one on the tranny that the other end of the cable attaches to already and have also replaced the gauge cluster, no luck. Could this be the issue, and what exactly is "this". thanks!

Do you mean this piece? https://www.summitracing.com/oh/part...5841/overview/
This is the shift lockout that requires you to put your foot on the brake to shift out of park.

Re: Need help naming a sensor on the shift cable.
There is nothing in the column that affects the PRND321 display.
The part on the column is what GM calls BTSI(Brake Transmission Shift Interlock). If there was a problem with that, you wouldn't be able to move your shifter out of park. I will get a wiring diagram for the PRND321 display. I may need to post it from my phone. |
