Question 1948 dumptruck info needed

My son just bought a 48 dump that has been in a barn for the last 20 years. The guy that owned it started it at least three times a yr. It sounds great.
the body needs some work. brakes- tires- glass. etc-etc.
my question is the cab-fenders-hood-grill- and the mounts the same as a p.u. I have been on this board in the 67-72 section for years.I know all of those cabs are the same. Fenders -hoods-grills were dif. depending on the year. This is my first endeavor into these years . Any help will be appreciated. Thanks Lou. H.

Re: 1948 dumptruck info needed

what series is it???

The sheet metal(fenders, hood, grill & everything else) from the 47.5 to 53 (1/2 to 1ton)3100-3600-3800 are all the same. The 1 1/2 ton up are different. BUT you can put a complete 3100-3600-3800series front sheet metal on the larger series trucks, but the wheel well opening is smaller. The larger trucks had longer & wider fenders & the hood is longer also. Here's a good page for info on the older chevy trucks. If no one else can help w/other questions you could also go over to Stovebolt.com & ask questions. Also w/the grill, the larger truck grill bars(just the bars themselves nothing else) can be used on the smaller trucks. There is a slight difference in height (bout 1/2") of the bar itself but they can be use. I used the bars fron a larger truck to make up my own grill on my project,..joe
