Priming Grill Shell?
I Used Red Scotchbrite And Scuffed Up My Aluminum Grill Shell For My 69 Pickup..
Just Wondering What Sort Of Primer Should I Use Before Paint? Epoxy, Acid Etch, Etc.. Going To Paint It Black. Thank You Posted via Mobile Device |

You might find your answers down in the body and paint forum. I also am interested in the answer. Since my 69 grille is mashed on the outside of the headlamp I am also considering filler and paint as opposed to ponying up for a new one. Maybe a semi gloss aluminum color.

You will need to usea self etching primer. Paint will bond to that.

I used two coats epoxy primer and BC/CC and looks great. Been over two years and no problems

I imagine you’d have to use easy off or something similar to remove all anodizing first. ?

leave the anodized grill as it is no primer of any type needed , the anodizing its self makes for a good primer , because if you think about it the metal is sealed ,just as if you primed it but better .

So maybe an epoxy primer to be sure and cover the areas sanded off?
