Brought this home last night...

I've had a couple of C10s over the last few years, one was a gem and one was a nightmare. After the latest nightmare I was all but out of the C10 business until Monday night when on my local craigslist pops up this 1965 swb small window fleetside truck with very low miles and at a very reasonable asking price. So much for getting away from the c10 world. Turns out it had been in the same family since it was bought new just over 50 years ago. The current owner’s great grandfather bough the truck new in June of 1965, he was a pharmacist and drove the truck 4 miles a day round trip to work and home. Sadly he passed away in 1972, but his widow continued to drive the truck a couple times a month making runs to the city dump. She passed in 2008 leaving the truck to her grandson whom I bought it from. It is in very original condition and the previous owner and his mother are adamant the current mileage showing is correct at just 17,527 miles but I have no supporting documentation to support the claim. It has an inline 6 with a power glide; the exterior has been repainted at some point many years ago but shows pretty well and after looking it over and some discussion here I believe the interior was also repainted. The body isn't perfect, there are a couple of bubbles here and there as well as a rusty passenger kick panel but nothing too bothersome. The interior is very nice although a little musty from non-use. Anyway here are some pictures, let me know what you think.

Re: Brought this home last night...

I was in need of some truck goodness after the last project went awry and this truck seems to have the potential to heal my wounds so I'm going to call this one Prescription Strength, or Rx for short.

Re: Brought this home last night...

Ernie, GREAT score.... My very first entry into the custom truck world was in 1986, I started with a '65 GMC swb fleet.

Glad you're coming back. I'm curious what the plan is for Rx. To bad you didn't keep the chassis you just sold, it would've slid right under there

How did you know, I did know until yesterday afternoon when he and I struck a deal. You must be psychic, can I get the lotto numbers for tonight?

Its had a repaint at some point, about as good as a factory paint job from back in the day.

Thanks,Ed, if I hadn't sold off all those parts I would have been watching someone else drag this one off. I'm happy for a fresh start no matter the direction it takes.
