Re: Carving the Jake-olantern

Well I had a choice buy after market trailing arms or buy a new welder. Hmmmm... New welder won out. So more welding and learning. By the time I was finished I'm getting more confident. They turned out good. This is the only pick I can find during the process.

Bolting up the rear. This is about the time I'm getting excited. Wish my son had more time to spend with me on the project. But being 16 now and full on Baseball and Football Not to mention new heightened interest in the other sex. Getting him involved is a challenge. Oh well one day he will come around.

And some No Limit gear on the rear. Pan hard bar kit and shock relocating kit. I need to order the rear swaybar now. Looking at the pic I need to adjust the panbar some.

Almost forgot to mention I'm running the JB7 calibers on the front. Gotta place an order with Captain Fab for my rear disk kit to run the JB6 D52 calibers.

Oh and I scored a great deal on a clean gen 4, 5.3 with 799 heads. First mock up of motor to check header clearance. Will need to set cab back on also.

Re: Carving the Jake-olantern

What brand and part number are those headers? Look like they might give me the clearance needed for the steering shaft on the No Limit IFS setup that uses a rack and pinion that I am running on my 68 C10 with a LS6. Looks great by the way.

Re: Carving the Jake-olantern

The headers are some that were bought off eBay for a 70 camaro ls swap that were laying around the shop. I will get the part number for you later.

Re: Carving the Jake-olantern

Did some research and those look like the Speed Engineering LS swap headers. I was glad to see them on a C10 to get a better idea of fit.

Re: Carving the Jake-olantern

Got the cab set in to check engine placement. I only have about 1/2 inch more that I can move the motor back left on the Dirty Dingo mounts but I think it's good where it is now.

Yes just added strength. trying to reduce some flex. Plus it just looks cool.

Got a couple things accomplished this weekend. CaptainFab rear brake kit and No Limit rear sway bar. Can't say enough good things about both.

Cool build.

Why did you go with 85 c10 engine mounts?

Thanks

Re: Carving the Jake-olantern

Just curious if you have the exhaust hooked up yet or if not, do you see any issues with how close the header/exhaust pipe is to the starter? I am thinking of getting a set of those headers but a little concerned how close they are in that area. Thanks.
