Ever happen to you:
At night, you lower the window and drop the tailgate only to find it's too dark to see what you're looking for! Then you gotta run and open the door or turn on the head switch then go back to the cargo area to look.
Also when camping out, no access to interior lights was always a pain too.

It's one of things that has always bugged me on the Blazers I've owned.

So I finally fixed that problem this weekend. I didn't want a switch like on door jambs, though you could very well do a jamb switch.
I wanted a switch that I could turn on and off while sitting out back all the while looking factory.

The final result.



I mounted it high enough I can reach inside and flip the switch. Also in enough that it clears the closed tailgate. Also where it is, it's out of harms way.
And all the switches still work as they should.
Super simple install for something that bothered me for years. Don't know why I didn't do it sooner...

Looks factory from here. Does the light still come on with the other interior lights? What is the switch out of?

Yep. All doors still work exactly the same as does the headlight switch. It's just tapped into that circuit.
Switch itself is a cargo lamp switch from a '78 up GM pickup truck. Seemed like a better idea than aftermarket on-off rocker switch.

And,it's accurately labeled! That's a great enhancement. Not only was it a thing you thought about and wanted to do for years (I know that one well),but it's one of those things GM should have done and looks s if they did. IMO,those are the best modifications. Certainly the classiest.
