Box on passanger side of bed

Hey everyone Im on a hunt for the storage box thats on the passanger side under the bed.

I have a 71 c20 and I was thinking of cover up the opening but the more I thought about it the more I like the idea of having it. Im not to worried about finding the box that goes there I can weld something up for that. Im more interested in finding the door that goes there. But finding both would be a plus.

Ive looked at LMC, Classicparts, Classic Industries, and Year one...

Unless I have over looked it or looking in the wrong places they dont have anything.

Where else could I look?

With the box itself being fiberglass they aren't to hard to find in decent shape. The hard part is finding a decent door that is not all rusted up. They do show up on the parts section from time to time but be prepared to spend some $$. A nice tool box door will be spendy. Might want to consider joining as a member to do a WTB (want to buy) ad. Best $25 you'll ever spend in a year's time. As far as I know no one currently re-pop's the door altho at one time I think they were being offered in a fiberglass re-pop several years ago.

Re: Box on passanger side of bed

I don't have a door to fix tho. If I can find one that won't break the bank then I'll get it. But I'm not even ready for it yet I'm still on the interior and rust repairs. I still need to search the local junk yards maybe I'll get lucky.

Kinda sucks that nobody makes new doors.

They are VERY hard to find without rust . . . and it WILL break the bank to repair one that is rusty !!! Mine was repaired with a new lower panel - cut out the door skin VERY carefully, then making it all work !!!

Re: Box on passanger side of bed

Heck I was even thinking of using the 4 corners of a glove box from a random car (just for the nice corners) and making my own door out of sheet metal.

Re: Box on passanger side of bed

I sold a door a while back for $75 on ebay. Not sure if that was a good price or not but that's what the bidding dictated. It only had surface rust but could hear loose rust inside of it.
