Smile 1965 c10 3 point seat belt install dimensions ?

In the process of buying a shop manual but not sure if it will have the info I'm looking for.

What are the original install dimensions for the a 3 point seat belt, for a 1956 c10 bench?

I'm interested in these:
http://www.seatbeltstore.com/product-p/jupb3ptret.htm

Once I get the dimensions, how can I be sure they will fit the c10 dimensions?

Thank You.

I wasn't aware that '65 had provisions for 3-points but it would be easy enough to do. here's the location of the holes in my '66:

there was a thread on this a year or two back, but I don't know if it's available

If you haven't seen this, you might find it helpful when it's time to install the belts ... http://www.bobshotrods.com/howto/3-p...chevy-pick-up/

Re: 1965 c10 3 point seat belt install dimensions ?

I have a pic of the dims that I think I got from this forum. It is included in the thread http://67-72chevytrucks.com/vboard/s...d.php?t=476066 I can not locate the hi res photo that I got the mounting hole locations / Measurements from. It looks like it came from a manual. When the photo is magnified to see the measurements it get blurry. Does someone have a hi res pic in a gallery or photo website? I believe this is what 1965c1O is looking for.

This is what I have, It is 44.9 KB

Re: 1965 c10 3 point seat belt install dimensions ?

fleetsidelarry: thanks for the dimensions, I assume the 66 is the same exact b-pillar or inner cab, so these would be the same dimensions?

ACK: thanks for that article, that is helpful.

I actually contacted them and they said they do not have experience installing them in the 65 generation trucks but have sold them for such.

I assume it would have all the right parts for installation and fit, as long as I got the right dimensions....?

aerotruk63: not sure what the conclusion of that thread is but in any case, I still would like to install them...

Re: 1965 c10 3 point seat belt install dimensions ?

I got mine from seatbelt planet and they were great to deal with.

https://www.seatbeltplanet.com/seatb...cts/25/view/63

140" belt length, with 20" adjustable buckle strap. Plenty long enough with my stock bench seat.

They came with heavy steel backing plates and Grade 8 7/16 bolts to install. I slid the plates up the B pillar for shoulder mount reinforcement.

dracko,

Those look like good quality and reasonably priced.

You put them in a 65?

Which hardware kit did you get: "Proper mounting hardware kits #1 or #4 also available"

Re: 1965 c10 3 point seat belt install dimensions ?

Yeah they've been in for about 2 years I figure and show no signs of wear.

I put them in my '64, which didn't have any shoulder mounting points in the B pillar. I don't think the factory put mounts in til '66.

IIRC i used hardware kit 1 to mount the retractors to the floor and I used the seat belt mounting brackets in the B pillar.

Edit: THe only real complaint I have is that you have to pull the seatbelt out slowly or the safety lock locks the belt.....annoying if you're in a rush and want to slam your seatbelt on. Get used to it pretty quick tho.

Ok, I;ll give them a call to confirm.

Also, I assume the whole bench needs to come out?

Re: 1965 c10 3 point seat belt install dimensions ?

you don't have to pull the bench but it makes life alot easier when bolting down the belts under the seat.

you can also get all 4 (1963-1966) shop manuals on a CD from a guy named Dave Graham, Auto Literature Inc.

I can't recall where I bought it though...ebay maybe. Try googling it if you want to go that route.

Re: 1965 c10 3 point seat belt install dimensions ?

If you need a hi-res illustration showing the measurements, they're on my Pinterest link in my signature line. With the 3-point belts, the top and bottom have to be lined up perfectly, so placement might need to be adjusted a tad. I did 2-point belts and there's 2 things I ran across ...

1. The most outer holes go through a cab support, which required a longer bolt, I think around 4".
2. If your gas tank is behind the seat, one of the holes you drill may be pretty close to the gas line under the truck, so allow room for the washer.

Re: 1965 c10 3 point seat belt install dimensions ?

I'm a bit late to this thread, but since I finally signed-up I wanted to come back and say thanks for posting the dimensions. It was a great help when I installed the belts in my '65. Like dracko, I also did the 140" seatbelt planet belts, and found that the Camel color (#31) was a good match for the fawn interior.

It was a bit painful drilling new holes in a 50 year-old truck, but not as painful as hitting the metal dash. Thanks again.
