Well back in the 80s i was called Suicide. But not for your first thought. I was a Coke routeman and got a nasty cut down my arm from a glass 1 lt bottle. I was cut from my wrist down to my elbow. So the Suicide nickname was given. Even the boss called me that sometimes. Then it followed me on to my next job.
Now days I’m mostly called sir since I am grayer than most.

Or Mr Jim. I am after all one of the elders at this company. I don’t mind as I am finally accepting my age. I get senior coffee and camp ground discounts now! Yay

Thanks Leon, They couldn't call me Sparky at work because I had a Mom, two sisters and a brother that All worked in the same area. When I was Single and doing the Biker Stuff they called me" Dusty" because of my Fu Man Chu mustache. I've been called a lot of thigs over the Years but I gotta tell Ya- Grand Pa makes me SMILE the Most!

Being called Grandpa is the best! Most of the time it's Mark although certain friends can get away with calling me Marky. One friend calls me Monk. When we first met he apparently had trouble reading the name label on my work shirt and kept calling me Monk. I thought he had a speech impediment so I didn't correct him for fear of embarrassing him. Eventually he figured it out and we had a really good laugh about it.

I've been called a handful of other names too, but I can't share them in a public forum.

90% call me Lee...but my momma, family I rarely see, and a smattering of close friends and brave acquaintances call me Leevon. I like having a unique name, never met another Leevon in my 38 years. The downside to a unique name is you don't get a knickname!

I don't think I have ever run across a Leevon either and that's interesting, because it was a popular song by Elton John in 1971. Usually songs caused names to go on the increase for a while.

Leevon has ties to the music industry. Elton John's Leevon. Then there was Leevon Helm of "the band" who was raised in a little rural community not far from me. "Up on cripple creek" and "the night they drove old dixie down" were two of their better songs. Those are the only Leevons I can think of.
It's a good name.

Ya'll nailed it. I was born in 1980, years after Elton John's song and my parents claim that they didn't name me after the song and don't know where they heard the name but it really has to be the only source. They were children of the 70's and I know for sure that any spare time they had to name a kid would have likely been sitting in front of a Hi-Fi stereo playing records and passing "homemade cigarettes" so I'm not surprised the story is murky LOL! For crying out loud they have the album Madman Across the Water to this day (which is a great album BTW) so there's not much deniability. Interestingly, Elton and Bernie Taupin wrote the song as a tribute to Levon Helm. Before I was even aware of the obvious namesake, The Band/Levon Helm was one of my favorite artists so when I found that out I liked my name even more!

Mom was once at the grocery store and the old man in front of her was named Levon. She said "Oh that's my son's name" and he replied "I curse my mom for naming me that". She cried telling me about it, but I told her his Mom must not have such an angel as she is and that I DO like my name. Sometimes I wonder how other people react to it though? Here's this normal (big) white guy named Leevon. When I was a kid, on the first day of class, the teacher was always looking for a black kid named "Luh-vaugahn".

Which do you prefer? I must have a speech impediment I can't hear. It seems as many times as not, when I tell someone my name (Tim) they think I said Kim or Ken. It happens so much I put extra effort into pronouncing the 'T' sound, but still some will ask, "Ken?"

I may have known another Leevon than the ones talked about, but only Leevon Time is coming to mind.

TK (my initials) or Tina. My nickname TinyMite, but my dad (in the pic below) is the only one that is allowed to call me that. He gave me the nickname, so it just became "our thing".
When I was growing up, I was his side kick, always right by his side. He taught/showed me everything he did. I will forever remain, daddy's tomboy/girl.
1st pic was last year, fishing in Florida. 2nd pic, back in the 60's, I'm the little one right there by my dad's side and my older brother. Which BTW, they both are called CK, for Chuck King. As we got older, it changed to Big Chuck & Little Chuck.

I can see Chuck King turning into one word. That's neat you have a nickname just your dad uses. You remind me that my dad had one for me, too. I never liked it or I would have adapted it. It's Booga and I would say, "I'm not Bogga" when I was younger. But I grew to appreciate t as 'our thing' as I matured and now it is a great memory to recall him calling me that. I sure do miss him
