Soft Ray Window History?

Were the Soft Ray windows a factory option? Did they come listed on SPIDs as an option? Did they only come with the CST models? I'm really liking the "vintage" look of these windows.

Post up pictures of your Soft Ray equipped K5s or trucks.

Re: Soft Ray Window History?

Soft Ray is factory tinted glass. I believe it came standard on AC equipped trucks but could be had as a stand alone option.

Re: Soft Ray Window History?

My 72 has AC and tinted glass listed separately on the SPID. It is not a CST

Re: Soft Ray Window History?

So my K5 being an AC truck at one point had Soft Ray, huh? I have in my possession a Soft Ray hatch window and two hard top side windows coming in as well. I'll be on the hunt for some door windows soon. Loving the way the glass looks.

Re: Soft Ray Window History?

It is listed on the SPID as "tinted glass". I've attached a picture of my SPID and of my Jimmy Custom on arrival day. It was a bright day (for many reasons!) and you can see the tinting pretty well. My truck does have AC and often tinted glass is bundled into an AC option but I don't know if Blazers and Jimmys were sold that way.

Very nice and love the Ochre too. My K5 was originally Ochre and thinking hard about going back to it. Appreciate the pictures.

Re: Soft Ray Window History?

Here's the Soft Ray glass in my K1500 - this truck has no AC, the tint was ordered as an option. This truck and my K5 still have factory tinted windshields (Blazer tint came with the AC).

Re: Soft Ray Window History?

Thanks guys - credit goes to the original owner whose widow I purchased it from. The owner, a WWII vet, kept it garaged and clean for 40+ years. I admire his ethic and feel I've inherited a large measure of responsibility and have some reservation about converting to plaid interior.

Re: Soft Ray Window History?

My 70 2wd Blazer has Tinted Glass and no A/C either.

My old 72 4x4 had factory A/C but no tinted glass..
