Talking

Well, I finally got to drive the truck after the front suspension modifications! It seems to ride a little smoother since I'm not using as much psi in the front bags, maybe around 5-10 psi less. It seemed to ride rougher before. Everything seems so be working as planned. I just need to install some bump stops to keep the tires from resting on the fenders when the bags are dumped. Now it's time for bodywork!!

Why was the extensive cutting on the cross member required around the bag?

The "extensive cutting" was done to basically raise the upper bag mount, thus lowering the ride height. If you check out the link that shows the whole project, it'll explain everything.

I have heard from several sources that the same plan could be acomplished by simply using a cup type upper mount vs the plate style that mounts to the lower part of the x member. Did the mod you fabricated move the mounting point of the bag any higher by going this route vs the cup type mount?? Also personally I think your fab work looks great and even if it is the same it looks 10 times better because of the overall appearance.

I think you'd only be able to get the upper bag about 3/4" higher using an upper cup as opposed to a plate. If you were only looking to get a small amount on extra drop, I guess that'd work. However, one thing i like about my method is that it positioned the bag vertical as opposed to an inward angle like it was before.

Have you thought about pitching this idea to a fab shop. That has to be worth something!!
