1972 GMC Gear Ratio

Howdy - just bought a 1972 402 ci, TH400 1 Ton pickup. What rear end gear ratios came on this truck? Thank you!

Re: 1972 GMC Gear Ratio

Interesting to note a 3/4 ton big block auto had 3.54 standard. I’m surprised they changed to 4.10 for a one ton

Re: 1972 GMC Gear Ratio

IS the OP's truck a single wheel or dually? I bet it makes a difference...

Re: 1972 GMC Gear Ratio

3.54 not available in a C30. 4.10 was standard for all V8 C30s from 6600-14000 GVWR, with the exception of those equipped with the H22/H23 11000 lb axle, which could have 5.43 or 6.17.
