new grey wheels

OK, this has been hashed over a few times, but my situation is I need help finding a set of wheels that match my suspension. I'm wanting a complete set of wheels front and back that go on my 56 chevy truck, with a 2nd Camaro suspension/rear end. I have 15" wheels on it now, and what I am wanting is grey spoked mag wheels, 15x7's with 4.50" back spacing. I'm not aware at this moment what my offset is, but I know I would like to find wheels based upon my current measurements and desires. So as you can see, I'm needing your help, can you locate a name of wheel I can look at for my truck? I've looked at American Racing and Vision wheels, they are close, but I cannot find the 4.5" backspacing I need. I'll thank you in advance. Pictures would be greatly appreciated.

Re: new grey wheels

I entered your parameters (15 tall, 7 wide, 4.50 backspacing, Chevy lug pattern, grey color) into Summit Racing's wheel selector and found four choices. Play around with the options, you may find lots more - for example unilug pattern may bring up many more options:

Re: new grey wheels

It’s looking like I’m gonna need to buy custom backspacing too. I bought used Boyds because they were uber cheap, had them polished, etc and now that I am putting my bedwood on it’s apparent the inside tire sidewall is too close to the wood, and this is without the bedside being on! I’ll use washers to determine how thick a spacer will work but I really don’t like the idea of using spacers long term. Once my bedsides & fenders are on I’ll be able to accurately determine the backspacing and maybe get a wider rear wheel under there. Besides, I want gray spokes too!

Re: new grey wheels

The 15 x7 with 4.04 comes closest on a 5 spoke . http://www.americanracing.com/wheel/...torq-thrust-ii

If you go to 8 inch wide you can get deeper back spacing.

Dan,
I'm going to go with a set from Rocket Racing (thanks to 59CHEV.The truck I have is grey and the style of wheels is also grey. How much room do you have between your bed and outside fender lip? What style/color of wheel are you looking for? Look up Rocket Racing wheels as well as Vision wheels.

Re: new grey wheels

Great to hear! I think those will look great on your truck. I was seriously considering the "Rocket Fuel" for my build until I found a set of powdercoated z28 5 spoke rallys that I couldn't pass up.

Which ones are you getting?

Glad you found some you like.

I have no idea how much room I have because my bed hasn't been together since I tore it down for paint. But I DO know that the inner tire sidewall is too DAMN close to the wood so it will be even closer to the bedsides, maybe touching - I'll have to do something, I just don't know what yet. The bedsides will go on tomorrow (fingers crossed) and the fenders next week - they're still at the painter's shop.

Basically, I like the classic five spoke Torq Thrust. I have to have at least 16's to clear my front calipers but since there isn't much tire selection in 16's I will go with 17's. I also really like Salt Flat wheels but probably not enough choose them over classic TT's.

Re: new grey wheels

Dan your truck looked great with Torque Thrust wheels on it. They are available in 17” which should clear all but the biggest brake kits without looking too big.

I highly suggest you talk to Summit Racing on their technical service line, 330/630-0240. With the right backspacing and offset you should be fine. Good luck Dan

I want to thank you 59chev for your wheel recommendations. I got my Rocket Racing wheels the other day thru Summit Racing and mounted them today. The tire selection I made was going from 235/75/r15's in the rear to 255/60/r15's but stayed with the 215/70/r15's in the front. Due to the 4.25" backspacing all around, i'm thinking the issue of front tire rub will significantly be eliminated
