Brake drag help

Just installed new brake booster on 1972 GMC 2wd LWB. Brakes seems correct when cold as truck easily moves at that point. However after driving a few miles, brakes drag. By the time I get back home, brakes really dragging, wheels are hot, and brakes a starting to smoke. First thought is the booster rod is too long but it doesn't seem so when cold because truck moves easily. Thoughts?

Re: Brake drag help

Did any of this happen before you installed the new brake booster or only after?

Re: Brake drag help

Only after the booster was installed. Odd thing is when cool, you can move the truck by hand. By the time you return from a short drive, you cannot do so. It is almost as if it retains pedal pressure while driving then bleeds it back off after it sets overnight and cools. Thanks for the reply.

Re: Brake drag help

Figure it out? Im guessing as you drive and things heat up the clearance goes away, I'd shorten the rod and try it again.

Re: Brake drag help

Got it worked out just today. Found a Kent Moore booster rod gauge tool on Ebay. Made the job very easy. Ended up adjusting the rod in about 1/8". My rod was threaded so it was easy to adjust. Have test drove it twice without issues. Thanks to everyone for their advice.
