Nice job on the back up lights, could you hide another set on the outside bottom corners of the bumper?

If the yard ever lets me get back to truck engineering, that idea is being thought out.

Dusted the old Mule off and went cruising around today. Hopefully after next weekend of more yard work (I really hate azaleas) I'll be able to play with it some more. But......driving is good!

Even a rainy Saturday couldn't hold us back. Got the Mule all cleaned up for it's debut in the Hot Rod Power Tour next Saturday. Unfortunately, the Mule and his jack##$ can only attend the first day. Oh well, there will be another year.

But the Mule is clean, the jacka## should be by Saturday.

The Mule is all packed and ready for the 0-dark-hundred roll-out. Can't you see the excitement on his face. Can't wait for the Power Tour day. Hopefully get to meet up with some of the board members I have not seen in many years and a few I have.

Re: The Old Mule - 64 BBW

It was a great day to cruise and see the start of the Hot Rod Power Tour. Got to meet up with Jesse (67chevyredneck) and Andy (Andy4639). Been years since we got to meet up.

Trip start at 4:45 this morning. Since my kitchen is still blowed up for the remodel, had to stop and grab some ice and coffee. The Mule is ready.

One sad not.....many many Mississippi and Louisiana residents gave there life up for the early morning part of the drive

Mule ran great..Met up with Jeremy (62shortstep) just be fore our breakfast stop

Re: The Old Mule - 64 BBW

It was a great day...Mule ran great again. probably 300-350 miles today. Those 3.08 gears make it such a nice cruiser!

I did pick up a CPP 1-1/8" Rear Sway Bar Kit for the Mule today also. So some more handling improvements to come.

OH here is the link for the pictures I took today

Re: The Old Mule - 64 BBW

Looks like an awesome show bill, If only I was closer to huge events like that. I have a question or two about your gearset. I recently pulled the 12 bolt from my 78 gmc and I plan to use it under my 62. I have no problem making mounts for shocks and panhard bar plus welding on mounting pads but I discovered that it has 3.07 gears. How do you find your 3.08 for city driving? Your 3spd has a 1st ratio of about 3:1 as where my t5 has a 1st ratio of 4:1 so mine would be a bit steeper. You have a v8 and I have a straight six so that makes a difference as well. My worry is that it might be a bit sluggish around town. Any thoughts? Thanks

I always forget whether the truck axles are 3.08 and the cars are 3.07 or vice-versa.....whatever the truck gear is is what mine is.

I believe it should be the 3.08 for trucks. But anyway my original question, how does it do with city driving? I'm worried it might be kinda sluggish. Thanks

Re: The Old Mule - 64 BBW

for me with the 350, no issues at all. Now we are flat-landers down here, but I have no issues with the low end of my 350 crate. Heck...I hauled a big ole upright piano with it and she just chugged along. With your 5 speed I would go with a 3:42 or a 3.73. You'll have a bit more fun and still have about same gas mileage....especially around town.

My 5spd actually has a steeper first gear than your 3spd so it may truck allong just fine but you do have a good point about driving around town. I will likely just be staying around town most of the time and going on trips occasionally so I will probably go to a 3.42. Thanks

Re: The Old Mule - 64 BBW

OK, the Mule started acting strange. How can you tell if the booster for the power brakes is going bad?

I do not hear/see any vacuum leaks, but what I started to experience yesterday on the Mule is when I go to put on the brakes, instead of a easy depression of the pedal, it is rock hard. I REALLY have to push on the pedal HARD to get it to stop. Then it starts to work normal again. Then it acts up again later on, then back to normal.

I have never experienced a bad booster before, so I do not know what to look/at or experience if it is going bad.
