1972 gmc jimmy hard top silder ?

So i have a led on a set of sliders for my hard top. The guy is looking to get like 550 for them and they seem to be in ok shape. From the pictures it seems like some of the channeling is falling off and that the windows need to be re glazed. I know these things are pretty rare but are these worth 550? let me know what you guys think.

Thats what i figured, they seem pretty hard to come by. Have you ever taken a set of these apart?

Re: 1972 gmc jimmy hard top silder ?

I have never taken them apart, but I don't think it would be hard. They are pretty simple. Basically like a rear window slider from a pickup. A decent window shop could restore them if needed. I paid a small fortune for a nos set about 3 years ago and sold another set I had for $800 that needed some love. They weren't bad, but definitely not as nice as the nos set.

Lookin' good. Here's a couple pictures of mine, per your request, as they current sit - in my hardtop hanging in the garage. I haven't had the hardtop on for a while since getting the Four Wheel Camper.

Re: 1972 gmc jimmy hard top silder ?

Curious if you tear into these. I've got a set on the shelf and unlike pickup sliders believe the frame welded iirc. Mine could use a rebuild - I rebuilt the OEM slider for my k20 but holding off on those for the blazer.

Re: 1972 gmc jimmy hard top silder ?

Prob not gong to tear them apart, just do a good cleaning and put them in the top. Beside's my fiance' is requesting that i have the truck together for our wedding this Oct. However, in the mean time i do want to find some new glass setting channel like shown in the picture. Has anyone ever replaced theirs?

Can you post another photo of the piece? I rebuilt an OEM slider for my k20 http://67-72chevytrucks.com/vboard/s...d.php?t=559651 and have a sets of the single and double pane blazer sliders here as well.

Re: 1972 gmc jimmy hard top silder ?

That looks like the snap-in plastic filler piece that goes in the outside bottom channel to trim it out. Is this correct? My recollection is the glass actually slides along the felt weatherstrip.

Re: 1972 gmc jimmy hard top silder ?

That is correct, it is the filler piece. However, i do believe that it is more than a filler piece and kind of locks both vertical aluminium pieces so that the two end pieces of glass dont shift, which mine did. What do you think?

Re: 1972 gmc jimmy hard top silder ?

On truck sliders the vertical aluminum posts are secured top and bottom by screws - can't recall if the double pane k5 sliders are or not. Mine are up in the rafters at the moment.

seeing them on the red top I thought "why would someone want these on their truck?"
but they actually fit your blue/white truck very well! Congrats on the purchase.

Those look great. Single or double wall top? Easy install with no trimming of the top?

For the record, I installed my set into my single wall top using single wall window gaskets. No trimming as well. Very quick install as Sandtrap noted.
