i finished the checker board on the firewall.i'm having a pin striper come next week to run black lines around the checkerboards.

finished plumbing the fuel line. i got the procomp fuel pump,regulator,canister filter, and fuel pressure gauge off ebay for $100. its all aluminium line with 6an 37 degree flares and nuts from russel

finished the brake lines. just have to do the power steering lines,positive cable, a couple air bag wires,prime the motor, adjust the valve,a few small things and the body goes back on the frame. then i need to figure out how to reduce the voltage to the coil for flamethrower distributor to fire the motor without a wire harness.

i had spiderman come by and stripe the checkerboard. he only charged me $100 and he did a really good job.it really needed it,for some reason when you do checkerboard you cant avoid some overspray. unless tape off individual squares.

its finally starting to resemble a complete truck. i had it towed to the exhaust shop.because the suburban suspension is so low the exhaust guy had to run some pretty tough tube angles. i had all the exhaust ran from underneath.then i can drop the exhaust once its back to the shop. so i clean up some of the welds and coat it with high temp exhaust silver paint.

i primed the motor and started it today for about 20 seconds.it ran really smooth for the short time it ran.i couldnt get the fuel regulator to adjust under 15 pounds. i needed to run 7 lbs. then i lost fuel pressure. i think the regulator is messed up. i got the body on the frame. it looks good. i forgot my camera so i will post some pics tomorrow.i was going to paint my inner fenders and radiator support. i think im going to powercoat them blue like the frame.

very cool project. Love the checkerboard theme and the matching painted frame will be nice!

Quick ??? on the brakes...noticed how low the prop valve is...do you need residual valves? I was going to have to run them on my truck with a frame mounted master/prop valve so not sure if you're okay with the master on the firewall and the prop valve on the frame or not...

va72c10 i dont think i need a residual valve. unless your master cylinder is below the bleeder valves. like in a frame mounted master cylinder set up.the residual valve prevents fluid from backflowing to the master cylinder causing a spongy pedal.the master cylinder being lower thenthe bleeder does something with the pressure and gravity. i bought a disc/disc combination valve that does metering (which holds off pressure until rears catch up)and proportion (which gives the rear full pressure to a certian point so the back doesnt lock up)

heres some pics with the body on the frame. now comes the fun part. putting everything together. it goes together alot easier the second time around. after you mock everything up, remove it ,paint it and put it back on. everything actually fits.didnt get much done today. i did the rubber hood gaskets that screws on the cowl panel. to prevent the hood from scratching the newly painted cowl. then i look the power steering lines down to the hydraulic shop to get the lines made. next week i should get alot done.
