Re: 1977 Chevy C10 known as SharkBite

Oh, and I hadn't told a lot of people just yet about my exhaust but here's a picture of what I'm going to end up having it look like. Also since I won't have to worry about mufflers I'm going to bring it in a little bit tighter.

Re: 1977 Chevy C10 known as SharkBite

So an update for everyone on my truck is it running again it has open headers right now I got a little black friday present and got 2 flowmaster 10 series to put on, that will be going on tomorrow during the day sometime. I also did some black friday shopping and went and got me a creeper, jack, and jack stands for $100 I love having my own goodies now, tomorrow should be a big day, after getting the exhaust I'm going to try and get rid of a long held 4 wheeler and then put my big bad beast in the garage which it will be settled in as its new home instead of getting rained on so tomorrow will be busy busy busy!

Re: 1977 Chevy C10 known as SharkBite

Well it has been a crazy and wild yet eventful weekend.

Got some new tool accessories Black Friday Shopping

Overnighted Mufflers Flowmaster 10 Series

Exhaust Work Done

Tool Box found a temporary home

Project 77 went into its new home

Project 77 got some new shoes too

Now comes the sad news lol The truck was running fine all day Saturday ran it from about 9am till about 4pm used it for some errands said hell why not its got an exhaust on it now might as well break it in. Well me and my dad decided to load up a crap 4 wheeler we have had for years doing some spring cleaning so we said lets scrap it, also needed to get some rope while we were out, scrap wasnt opened, go to a close parts store, thought about leaving it running but I thought hadnt had any problems yesterday why should I today well I was wrong lol went back outside to try and crank it nothing happened except a click, so we believe its the starter so right now the truck is on jack stands, and next weekend hopefully i'll get a buddy here to come and let me bang on the starter get it running and go from there, we were trying to clean out the garage so we could fit the truck in, but one day soon it'll be completely empty and be a man cave/workshop.

Sorry for a very long post but hope you guys enjoy the pics!

Um...headers are just a set of jegs long tube, but lets just say if you've ever heard a "demon" running that's what it sounds like man it's sooo damn sweet sounding when your idling but if you just floor it omg it's sweet enough to make you have an orgasm honest I was worried about the sound thought it was going to be super loud but it sounds perfect has a throty idle and very aggressive sound when you running the roads beautiful sound though!! Couldn't ask for a better sound truthfully!

My grandpa once said "on a regular car usually it doesn't matter what performance you get out of mufflers and cam. you want to be able to enjoy the sound because your going to be listening to it everyday".

Re: 1977 Chevy C10 known as SharkBite

Your grandpa is a very wise man, I wanted to put cutouts on my truck but after listening to it all day Saturday and some today it just sounds too pretty to want to change honestly only thing left to do is run it out the back but it's important you have to love the way your truck sounds and looks to always be proud. It's addicting though I love my truck man it's beautiful sounds great just waiting to make it look great it's all taking time.

Re: 1977 Chevy C10 known as SharkBite

What I think would be really BA is if we could get everyone in Texas out in east Texas hill country and all and met up in like Austin or San Antonio for a weekend and just go tear up a town rolling 100+ deep of 73-87 trucks and SUVs it would be nasty definitely be a show stopping trip!

Re: 1977 Chevy C10 known as SharkBite

Well I'm back on the drawing boards again haha, it wasn't running sunday at all well it did but then it stopped, well come to find out the positive battery terminal was just a tad loose and thats what caused it, moved the wire a few times and power was back, now its idling high, and its pouring out gas fumes like crazy, I put it in the garage last night it put so much fumes that I was holding my breathe and I actually had to stand outside of the garage for about 5 minutes before I went back in we had to open windows in the house cause the fumes went in the house too. Only possible options I can think to do is turn down the idle needle for the truck and maybe all new wires cause it seems like its backfiring too and I know for sure all the spark plugs are new.

Re: 1977 Chevy C10 known as SharkBite

it helps alot for noise cancelation to point the turndowns down and towards eachother. like at a 30 degree angle. its a bit late cause yours are already welded, but fyi for when you cut them off in 3 weeks to try to make it quieter..

Re: 1977 Chevy C10 known as SharkBite

Ahhh I didn't know that I learn something new everyday. My plans for the exhaust is to actually run it straight out and have tips like a vette. So if I'm not mistaken running them straight back will quiet it down some too.

Re: 1977 Chevy C10 known as SharkBite

I might have figured out whats wrong, I've been doing some reading on the web and a lot of places say 1 thing that causes a backfire is fuel/air ratio so I believe that my next step will be get the truck out of the garage and try and lean it out some and hope that works and trouble shoot it from there.

Re: 1977 Chevy C10 known as SharkBite

Nope nothing I even checked and it makes sense now because if the truck is running rich it'd be spitting out more gas than what needs to be used causing those extra fumes, so going to try and turn the idle speed down some and lean it out a little and see if that fixes the issues.

Re: 1977 Chevy C10 known as SharkBite

here's what I was doing until my buddy came over to help me look at the truck, and try to solve my starting issue. Note this is my first time ever to do sanding in my life and it came out as smooth as a babies bottom. It may not be alot but its a start I'm going to take a ton of pictures of the trucks body, panels, inside, outside, everything so that you guys can see the progress I have slowly but surely. Tell me what you think of my sanding job for my first time ever?
