Re: radio delete plate

It has been about the chase for me..It started as something I had wanted in my 72 build..Just so happened the first guy I called said $75 and would not budge,(I did not buy that one)...,I went to a couple spots the first weekend and picked up 3 for free.,that sparked my interest...so ebay, parts board, swap meets, junk yards....

$75??? I hope you go over to his house and show him you're collection. It's no wonder no one can find them.

The midnight skulker going around collecting delete plates from all the salvage yards comes to mind.

Re: radio delete plate

When I first got my truck I took the delete plate off to install a radio. I almost threw it out since I didn't have any use for it. Now I'm glad I kept it. Not sure for what but after what I've read here, they're higly desirable. Not valuable but hard to come by.

It seems to me that someone with a little ability could easily replicate these with aluminum stock or sheet metal.

I saw some posts some time back where guys tried different methods. I think glue was involved.

One method I thought of (I lost my clips) was to glue rubber plugs that would fit tightly in the knob holes. Never could find the plugs though.

Re: radio delete plate

I've seen them made with aluminum sheet using hardwood form blocks and a 3 ton press. After painting you can't tell them apart from the original looking from the front.

Re: radio delete plate

Let me figure out if I can do the lip 1st... I'm thinking I may use a 2part epoxy and attach a magnet to the backside of the stainless steel and use that to make it stick to the dash ... ( fingers crossed)

Wink Re: radio delete plate

I need one if someone is not hoarding and wants to help a fellow trucker. Let me know by PM your price, condition, etc.--inc. shipping to 27028. They are long gone from wreckers around here. Thanks!

Re: radio delete plate

I could swear I saw these offered in LMC.
Are they hard to repop?
At work we have two Amada one Prima and two Bystronic press breaks. Should be easy to form. As I read it they aren't value able which would explain why they aren't made and its the clips that are hard to find. Hmmmm. I have a few in the shop I just never thought about this. I'm not offering them up for sale nor do I want to (please no PMs)

I have seen more than one member hoarding these. Every time they pop up on the board the same guys buy em.

I like that collection. Not for the part but for the shades of paint.
Cheers!
