Re: Do you have a 1972 Plaid Pickup?

Interesting custom combo, thanks for sharing. I've never seen the seat back vinyl wrapped back at the lower edge like that - exposes the full vertical seat brace. Is your bench modified to fold forward?

That's the way the seat was when I got it. I put the cover on I know it's not original but does the seat not look correct to you guys. It does fold forward. Didn't the 72's fold forward?

Definitely a nice custom job but sticking with original colors.

No, the 72 did not fold forward. Wish it did sometimes

I asked because the stock vinyl for a seat back normally is wrapped down and over the curved seat bar, somewhat hiding it, rather than back and out of the way, UNLESS the seat gets modified to fold forward by removing the upper anchor bolt, in which case it needs to be wrapped back to be out of the way of the movement of the seat back. Looks fine like you have it and it's functional to be foldable, it's just not stock. No biggee at all - was just an observation and was curious if you had a fold forward seat mod.

Re: Do you have a 1972 Plaid Pickup?

This nice looking GMC Highlander ( in my favorite colors ) is on EBay now. Looks like a decent truck to me. No Spid shown but probably a YG8 Package truck, as long as it wasn't built in Atlanta, as evidenced by tilt and A/C. I don't see too many GMC Highlanders popping up. I wonder why the black armrests.

Re: Do you have a 1972 Plaid Pickup?

When I was looking for armrests the black was the first one to pop up. Maybe wanted to break up the white a little bit as well didn't know it was supposed to be parchment possibly.

Re: Do you have a 1972 Plaid Pickup?

Starting looking at this one on Ebay today and felt all the tell tale signs of a Highlander were there. When I found the spid pic my suspicions were confirmed. Originally the truck was 464 Wh/Yel/Wh/Yel with the 613 Avocado Green plaid seat and a YG8 Package. I think whoever did the rebuild did a nice job, I like how the door panels are toned to match the brown interior.

Re: Do you have a 1972 Plaid Pickup?

Does anyone have a scrap of gray highlander material they would be willing to send to me? After waiting for 8 months SMS is asking for a piece to match it too.
I don't have anything to send them since the original seat is long gone.
Thank you.

Interesting SPID - has a/c ordered separately from the Package (A). Original owner must have REALLY NOT wanted tilt, ha. It would probably have been less expensive if he added tilt via a C promo package, which included a/c. Wow. Just love the color combo. Any idea of your original parchment panels were replaced with black ones or painted over with black? That would e a beaut restored.

The panels are white and painted over, White visors , New carpet and the seat upholstery is black valor which is turning green from the sun.

What would be kinda cool is just replace the velour with the correct orange plaid and leave the rest black. Since the truck is orange and black anyways...lot less work and you can get the correct orange plaid from SMS.

Someone did not like the DF2 mirrors on it either, opted to take them off and fill in the holes, paint it primer

I agree, what an awesome truck and color combo you have. Thanks for sharing it. It would be great if you have time and financial ability to put it back to original. Then it would be BAD @$$!!!!!!.

Re: Do you have a 1972 Plaid Pickup?

If anyone with a highlander is looking for sales literature, I have a few sets left and have them for sale in the FS thread.

http://67-72chevytrucks.com/vboard/s...d.php?t=742333

Also wanted to give a shoutout to www.carsinc.com for their Highlander seats, as well as www.swclassics.com and Truckseats who is a member here. We all need to get these Highlanders looking as good as we can It totally makes my truck feel more like my living room!

Re: Do you have a 1972 Plaid Pickup?

Has anyone seen a solid black highlander truck? I've seen lots of highlander pictures but haven't come across any black ones yet aside from a few white/black two tones.
