SBC 350 Valve Cover Gaskets

So lets here it. Who makes the best one???

Some of the performance ones are at most 3/16 inch thick. I would like to have something that is reusable and ethanol resistant.

Looked at the Jegs options and know there is more options out there. I am keeping the stock stamped steel valve covers for now.

Who has had some success? I would love to know!

Unless you have fuel in your oil why would you need ethanol resistant VC gaskets?

I have used the Moroso rubber gaskets and like them a lot. They are reuseable and have a steel insert in them.

Re: SBC 350 Valve Cover Gaskets

I recently tried the Fel-Pro "PermaDryPlus" style, and have been ecstatic how well they have worked even after removing and replacing the stock covers more than once. They definitely are NOT cheap (I paid $30 at my local NAPA) but they worked so well I'm going to buy more for a couple of my other engines. The oil pan version works fantastic as well, so you could say I'm a very happy customer who feels the high price to be worth it.

Fel-Pro PermaDry. Used it on my valve covers, oil pan and rear main. Bone dry for over a year now.

Re: SBC 350 Valve Cover Gaskets

For valve covers I use the Fel-Pro cork/rubber ones. Used them for years and have had good luck with them.

Older motor, still runs good yet I know there is blow by on the rings. I just look for the best I can get for this old thing, my belief is a better part leads to longevity.

Do you have stock heads and valve covers? I know aftermarket heads and valve covers seal better than the rough cast stock heads and moderately flimsy stock valve covers. This thread has given me 2 new options to try and I thought I already tried them all. The no-name rubber valve cover gaskets turn to hard plastic very soon. It sounds like Moroso uses some better rubber.

The last thread I saw like this there was a few recommendations for Mr Gasket Ultra Seal gaskets. They are cork rubber and I was tired of leaks so I RTV'd them on. They don't leak but it would be nice to use a gasket without the RTV.

Re: SBC 350 Valve Cover Gaskets

Yup, stock heads and flimsy stock valve covers. I'm a big fan of Fel-Pro products. I used to seal my diff covers with RTV but I hated to clean the covers everytime I took them off, so I tried a Fel-Pro gasket and it works great. But my covers are pretty straight and not dinged up....

I thank all whom have given their replies, looks like the felpro permadry are the winner so far.

That is the direction I will be heading!
