Were the 81 and newer Silverado bed corner trims painted or striped?

I bought what is supposed to be a NOS bed corner trim for the 81 and newer trucks. The black is stick on pinstripe instead of paint. It seems weird to me that GM would do this but I mostly deal with 73-80 trucks. Any info would be a appreciated.

The black stripe on the production parts was painted.

Either (a) it's not a correct part, or (b) the service parts were processed differently than those destined for the assembly line.

Kind of in the same line of questioning; I have a full set of 73-80 NOS trim, most still in unopened packages that has black tape intsead of it being painted on???? Mike

That is odd. The NOS 73-80 body trim set I have is all painted-but they were bought in the early 80's so I'm fairly certain they are "old" NOS service parts since they had been gathering dust in a small town dealership since the 1970's anyway.

This is interesting as I just looked at a NOS corner on eBay and it is painted not striped.

I bought a pair of NOS cab corners that have vinyl stripes. I’ve had them awhile and just realized that a few weeks ago. Not sure what to think.

I have some NOS wheelwell trim with ink stamped part numbers that has vinyl stripes I had just assumed it was aftermarket.
