I only ask because I am running a V6 in a 67. and am anxiously awaiting my new 302-20

Re: LT1 GenV swap

Random bag of spacers i found on the side of the street

Surprisingly they fit the passenger side alternator mount lile a champ!

Used up all the random length bolts i could round up for mock up. Now just need to print the final template and cut it out on some 3/8 plate...

Ill re-do the power steering plates later to incorporate an idler pulley for more crank belt wrap.. maybe un necesssry but why not..
Still need to sort out the motor mounts.. 3/8 plate to adapt gen5 to sbc... leaves a 1/4 inch or so between the booster and valve cover.. so tight, i cannot install the beauty cover

With this setup, I can keep the vacuum pump and not have to worry about vacuum although i have 2 l83 manifolds and going to try something with one amd post the results of the test

Re: LT1 GenV swap

Last tweak and now im ready to cut them out. Needed to rotate the tensioner a few degrees now it can put the proper tension on the belt.

Re: LT1 GenV swap

Crimping my way through it
Had to make a crimper for the insulation on the sealed connectors

Pic of the crimp looks like a pair of pliLGers squished it, but it's a factory looking crimp!

Yes, the new Holley LT oil pan fits nicely with the Porterbuilt Dropmember. I'm running a version 7 Dropmember with a 2015 L83 engine in a 1972 Suburban.

Engine harness routing.. pleased with it.

Need to finish the bulkhead connector to fuse box and all that's left for wiring is the fuel pump harness.

Thumbs up Re: LT1 GenV swap

Mapped put the and mount tabs

Cut it shorter than it meeting the bracket and sprayed ashesive glue on another piece that was cut off from the template to get the correct angle of the dangle..

(2nd Template removed)

Final product ready to be glued to some plate and cut out

Slowly getting to the finish line...

Re: LT1 GenV swap

Motor mounts checked off the list

The 1st aluminum motor mount adapters turned put to be usefull. A heat sink/fixture to help prevemt the plate from warping. If I were to have used them and the stock 3bolt bracket, it put the valve cover wicked close to the brake booster. I lowered the motor enough to give the driveline angle about 3-4* and have the trans pan barely below the frame rail. Also keeps the vacuum pump and stock ac compressor. Win win.. When the motor comes out for the last time, I'll hit it with some paint.

Re: LT1 GenV swap

Slid the oil pan on for a few pictures.

About 1 1/8 clearance

3/4 clearance.. if you have thse plastic covers painted with a factory booster.. you will scratch it going in. The plastic doesn't really show any scratch marks ...

Trans pan below frame rail, approx 3-4* angle

Re: LT1 GenV swap

Alternator brackets finally done

Happens that a old BMW belt is exactly the right length for this setup w/o the idler.. be good enough to test it out.

A/C... the factory sucrion hose line is a no go unless the frame is notched... a lot. The discharge side can work.. the sensor is kinda close to the frame.. maybe re work the line a little. Already drew up the suction adapter and waiting on the quotes to come in.
I'll take a picture of that next time I install the compressor.

Re: LT1 GenV swap

Had the a/c adapters printed up. The high side fits as good as its going to, but made it anyway. It a close to the motor stand... simple to grind and clearance it.. maybe reinforce it just cause... the new low side fits with tons of room...

Just bent a scrap piece of tube to make it fit

The notch that's on the frame was from the LS low side ac line clearance.

High side sensor needs to be relocated as its almost a 100% chance of separating the joint if it was to be twisted. More than likely, i will cut it at the sensor, install a new port and new fitting on the original line.

I removed the tube from the original line... can be made to work. Just wanted to have another option.

Also got the final power steering brackets cut out:

Need to make a trip to the autoparta store and pick up a few belts.

Clint

Re: LT1 GenV swap

Decided to make the fuel pump ring adapter work. Drilled the OR ring off, marked and cut the center out with a jig saw. Marked and drilled the 8 holes. Going to use fuel safe sealant between the tank and ring once I test fit the tank in the truck.

I bought this tank years ago for the 87, which has baffles for the efi... had to cut the raised section so the pump assembly would reach the bottom and be flat.

Factory o-oring

Going to use the 5/16 vent line or emissions line as the aux tank fill connection.

Dont have a solution for the stock sender yet, but shouldnt be to hard to attwch the stock level sensor to the plastic bucket.

Re: LT1 GenV swap

Looks Great Clint! You are going to love this when you are done. I just got mine tuned by Pat G. here in Victoria. My fueling was all jacked up because of the intake tube I used. He fixed it and tuned the transmission as well, runs like a beast and will burn 35s like no ones business.

The stock one is 0-90.. or the other way around.... the lt1 is 40-250

I just typed the right key words into the Google, found Speedway makes an interface module that can take any sender and output to any gauge up to 350 ohms iirc... I'll probably go this route since I plan to change the gauges to the dodge gauge cluster.

Side tracked on things I didn't want to do... clean the firewall and re seam seal the wiper cowl to firewall due to it showing a small.rust trail on the paint... got most of the old seam seal out, gonna try for more then seal it, paint the firewall and move on with final assembly.
Did make a slick tool to install socketless hose fittings..

Made a separate thread for it to help others that might have trouble with them seating all the way.
