Will a 3800 body mount on a 3100 frame?

I just bought a 55 series 1 3800 tow truck, I would like to turn it into a single wheel long bed. Will the cab and front end of my 3800 mount on a 3100 frame? I would rather swap than chop up a good one ton setup, and no I don't want a s10 frame. Thanks for the help

3 ___ series cabs and noses should fit. 4___ had bigger fenders and different hoods and bumpers.

Remember that the early ones used a different mount system than the later ones, so if'
you use an early frame you will have to make some adjustments. Not a deal breaker, but
if you have a choice get one that matches.

Everything on a 3800 will fit, witht the exception of the radiator support. The 3800 used a center mount whereas the 3100 and 3600 use 2 side mounts.

Also if you want a long bed the 3600 was the long bed, the 3100 was a short bed the 3800 was a really long bed-(about 9 foot, the 3600 was about 7 1/2 foot. Also keep in mind that the frames are different in the 3600/,3800
from the cab back they are straight while the 3100 flairs wider in the rear.

Thanks jet I am planning on using a 3600 bed with a 4 link. 9 ft is just a bit too long, 3600 bed should mount right up from what I gathered
