5 speed tranny swap

has anyone swapped a 5 speed tranny into a 1955-59 chevy 4 wheel drive truck that has a NACPO transfer case and 327 ci or similar

No but I thiunk you will want one one of the later full size truck transmissions NV 3500 or NV 4500
I want to put an overdrive 5 speed in my 77 Chev 1 ton dualie with a 454. On that truck 2mpg would pay for the trans in 5000 miles as bad as the mileage is now. I only drive it about once a month now when I go to the dump and it costs more to go the 15 miles to the dump than it costs to dump a load of trash.

77 C 30 dualie, 454, 4 speed with a 10 foot flatbed and hoist. It does the heavy work and hauls the projects around.
