Re: Look What I Found...

Guys, I know y'all aren't seeing this truck in person, but just a rough estimate from the pics, what do y'all think this truck is worth? I may get it and just try and flip it. I got enough projects as it is.

68 I missed what motor is in the truck/is it original? Does it run? Run and Drive?

I noticed it has a uncut radio /dash area. And tinted windows. Nice find. I had a similar original paint truck a few years back , bought by a previous poster (C10 King Rene) he sold it Delmo ( a truck builder in southern California) and they named it "the Grey goose".

I paid $2000 for mine, running and driving. I enjoyed the hell out of it. I just couldn't cut up an original truck so I sold it cause it was a 6 cylinder and I wanted a V8. Again its not that I couldn't upgrade the truck its that I just couldn't change such an original truck up. I think a good find / price for you to pay would be $4 to 5K if all you want to restore it. If all you want to do is flip it, especially if its hurt mechanically too, then hopefully pay even less. If you are in love with the early wrap around windows/knee knockers then pay a bit more... To each their own. Everyone now chime in...

It's a straight 6 and no it doesn't run. I wouldn't mind having it, but I got to finish my Chevelle and then I have a 68 swb that I have to finish. I even thought about selling my 68 for it, but I couldn't bring myself to do it cuz my 68 has NOS fender, NOS hood, NOS tailgate, NOS grill and NOS rockers. So, the 62 sit for a loooong time. So, with that in mind, I'd either sell it or not buy it at all.

UPDATE:

I couldn't take it anymore. I bought it...had to have it. Next thing is to figure out what I want to do with it. That'll be the hard part.

Yessir. Already got an LS3/TKO-600 for it that was going in my 68. I'll put that in the 62 and worry about the 68 later.

Re: Look What I Found...

Outside messing around with the truck yesterday and put a set of 22" HRE 3-piece wheels next to it just to see what it'll look like. I'm leaning towards powder coating these wheels sating charcoal grey centers with tinted brushed lips. Don't know what color the truck would be, but definitely not red...I hate red.

It's yours. And no insult intended....
But my stomach literally turned when I saw those wheels mocked up next to it.
Again, I'm not trying to bash or insult. I'm just posting exactly what I felt.
I can't see that truck in my minds eye with nothing else than original stock wheels and hubcaps.

No offense taken, cuz one thing you stated that's 100% true and IT"S MINE and that means I can literally do whatever I please to it. Don't really care for what others think and have never been a follower. Notice my signature...everything I own gets the custom aftermarket treatment. The inventor of Chevrolet himself can come from heaven and give me the very first 56 Chevy 2-door off of the assembly line and I'd cut it up and build it the way I want to. That's just me....it's just a car. I could care less about history and it being a relic. It's an inanimate object, therefore it's incapable to loving me back. Some may get mad at my words, but hey....

Re: Look What I Found...

The problem with aftermarket wheels is that they go out of style within 3 years or so and date your restoration. But if your able to complete your project quickly then your the cats meow.
I like the truck as is. Now that the patina style has come to the forefront, I regret having had mine painted.
Course you found it, you paid for it, so, it's yours to do what you want with it.
Congratulations on a fantastic find, looking forward to seeing your ideas on modernizing it.

True statement on the wheels. But, that's why I buy more expensive wheels like 3-piece wheels because I feel many guys aren't going to spend upwards of $7k on a set of wheels and therefore, not a lot of guys will have the same wheel and I think that style would go a lot further in terms of looks for years to come. Now, on the other hand, a lot of cast wheels look cheesy from day one, let alone 5 years down the road. But, that's just me though. I already new when I posted it that someone would have something to say, but like I said...I don't care. I'm not offended or anything. I'm a grown man that's 44 years old and don't need anyone's permission on what belongs to me. But in retrospect, I would never tell anyone else either...."Hey, you need a set of 22's on that truck or it doesn't look right." I know we have members on here who are in their 60's and up. I wouldn't expect them to like 22" wheels.

Actually,
You should say; 'You couldn't care less.' You have reached the very lowest depths of care.
'You could care less' means; the lack of care you have for other's opinions isn't quite the least care you are capable of.
.
But still, you came here to post: "Look What I Found" so you do care what we think.

Wait, I missed the section on here where there is a set in stone section of ideas and values. Last I checked I'm not the only one on here with 22" wheels. There are all sorts of guys on this forum with 22" wheels and some with 24" in the rear. Also, some with turbos, others with air bags laid on the ground and others with chopped tops or suicide doors, etc. So, I'm confused with the ideas and values part.

Actually, I don't care. Sorry that my post gave you that impression. I may not have used the proper grammar as you've brought to the forefront, but I don't care. I wasn't an English major in college. LOL!! I just know this is a truck community who likes trucks. That's why I posted it. I just thought everyone would like to see a good find, that's all. But, if you think I care for one minute about what y'all really think, you're gravely mistaken sir. I know I asked, "What y'all think?" And yes, I asked for opinions and it doesn't bother me that no one likes it is my point. But, as a result of me asking what y'all think isn't gonna stop me, deter or change my mind in what I really want to do with this truck. Actually, if you go back and read somewhere in this thread. I actually said I may not even keep the truck. I have a 63 frame to put under it and may sell it. Uhhh, you wanna buy it and then you can put your stock wheels on it as you please. LOL!!

Hey man, your truck; do what you want and post lot's of pictures!

Not everyone likes other peoples tastes. There's builds on here that I don't like so I just pass over them! Simple as that!

I don't get why there is such a fuss over those rims. I find it funny how people here complain about Rims, but when a good running straight 6 292 is scrapped for a stupid small block no one complains at all!

Rims ain't exactly my style but hey! They'd probably grow on me eventually and it'll be one unique and different build for sure which is what I like to see! Everyone is so stuck on the dumb 350 and slam it builds anyhow. Nice to see something different. Rock on man.

You guys don't have to leave. You don't bother me one bit at all. I'm actually 43 and I'll be 44 next month. Hahahaha!! Again, I may build the truck and I may not. Believe it or not, from this thread I've actually had a few guys PM about buying the truck. I've already turned a profit if I want to sell it anyway.

Thank you sir. You said a mouthful. I'm not the one with problem here. I so happen to like rims and the ones who didn't damn near had a CVA. I'm a nurse, so that stands for cerebral vascular accident, which is the correct term for a stroke. LOL!! Since guys don't like rims, what about this chassis? I'll also put a custom CNC chassis like this up under it too. This is the one I had built for my 72 Chevelle with 20x13 wheels on the rear and a IRS.

Re: Look What I Found...

Oh Mr fancy pants with a fancy dancy frame, don't see a trailer hitch on that baby. lmao
Opinion expressed by a 55 year old who's on the mend from a triple bypass in April.
I like your sense of humor and think you'll fit in just fine on this site. Built my truck in 86 with, wait for it, 16" wheels with the extremely low profile 255VR55-16's tires off a Vette. Radical when all the local builds were N50-15's.
I have 2 sets of 22" transit wheels waiting for a project. Since I'm one of the ancients on this site, I'll put them on my walker! lol
