78 to 77 cab and bed swap

I'm looking to swap the cab and bed from a 78c10 to my 77k20 just wondering if any knows if it will fit or not ? Hoping I didn't waste my money.

You will need to cut out your low hump and use your high hump from the 4wd cab for t case clearance. Your bed carriage bolt pattern may be different, but not a big deal.

I have a 2wd cab to 4wd frame swap in the works for quite a while. If you don't want to cut up your nice floor you can use a 2 inch body lift and just cut a small hole for the shifter.

The floor hump is not a big deal. I did this when I swapped cabs in my truck. The high hump in the 77' will be bolt in. Just unbolt it and take it out. You will have to cut the 2wd cab floor and then in bolt in your high hump from the 77'.

I have done this before, take a look at my thread "rebuilding my 1977 plow truck". I used a 1982 body this time but the last time I swapped a 78 body on my 77. The center hump is NOT a bolt in as some of the guys are telling you. The big part is a bolt in but there is a smaller part behind the bolt in that you will have to cut the spot welds to remove and weld back into your new cab. Most everything else is a pretty straight forward swap including the wiring with the exception of the oil pressure gauge if you are using the 78 gauges, they changed from a mechanical gauge to an electric sender from 77 to 78. I cant think of anything else that is a whole lot different. The box mounting should line up with no problems. If you have any other Questions let me know.

That will work for the transmission hump, but there will be a gap at the rear of the hump. The floor is also clearanced around the transfer case.

I did a 2wd-4wd swap on a 78. Ill see if I can dig up some pics.

Giant hole you'll have to cut in your floor.



Finished product. I used stainless self tapping screws to make the entire hump "Bolt in". I used 3M Strip Caulk to keep water out.

Hey guys thanks for the info so my 77 has a 3 inch body lift so hopefully that will take out some of the issues with the bump. Also I'm swapping an automatic cab onto a standard truck so I'm gonna have to cut the floor out anyway. Hopefully with the body lift I shouldn't have to many issues with the frame I'm mostly concerned about the body mounts matching up and I can mess with guages and things like that after.
