np203 not going into the two forward positions

I have an np203, that I have cleaned the shifter, and have the link rods on. The shifter will go into the two forward positions, but it does not engage anything in the tc. Its like its in neural. Is there a simple part like a pin, or link bar that could have come loose inside the case to cause this symptom?

I do have a part time kit installed if that changes anything.

Mine does funky sh*t all the time. Any time I'm going into low range I HAVE TO have the tranny in neut. Did you have the linkage right apart?

I read that any time I change transcase gears, you have to be in neutral anyway.

When I got the truck, one of the link bars was missing. I found a pair in the junkyard. Cleaned them up. Rebuilt the shifter, and adjusted the linkage via putting a drill bit in the opening in the shifter.
