Just completed front suspension rebuild / airbag install

I just completed installing ART bags, ART upper and lower Strong Arms, and converting front suspension to 5 lugs (ECE). Build sheet:

ART upper and lower Strong arms
ART Bags
ECE dropped spindles
ECE 5 lug conversion kit with drilled rotors/ master cylinder/ power booster...
PST sway bar & ECE lower sway bar mount
Misc parts from board members (drag link, tie rod ends....)

Hardest part: cleaning and brake lines!

i was thinking of using this kit on my '76 burb. what are the advantages of the tubular upper and lower a-arms compared to the stock ones? is it worth the extra money to get new ones or just rebuild the originals? thanks in advance

N2TRUX - I have plans to write some more when I find time. Did you ever send me more pics of your truck? (robhartley@aol.com) What about a price? Also, do you have pictures of how you connected/routed your front air bags? I would like to get some thru frame fittings, do you know a good source?

Bad_burb - I believe they will allow you to go lower and still be able to align the front end correctly (http://ridetech.com/productinfo/controlarms_trucks.asp). If you want to run a sway bar, you will have to upgrade to one the uses end links.

Phantom_Dually - Fit was really good, however I suggest you check your parts boxes really well, as my shipment was missing some "small" parts, uhhh, like the lower a-arms!!!!! Other than that everything fit well.

That is the main advantage from everything I have read. Besides they look cool!

I haven't sent any pics yet. I thought I would wait until the motor is finished. Here are a couple of pics but I don't think you can see how the lines are routed. We drilled holes and put grommets where they pass through the crossmember. I'll see if I can't find a company that makes the through the frame fittings for air....

here's what I used.I got them at a local rig supply store.Well worth the money IMO.(the bulkheads are in the top baggie in the pic of the fittings).Tossed in a pic of the underside of the plumbing too for the heck of it.

does the spring pocket already have holes for the upper air spring plate to go or do you have to drill them?

There are holes in the plate. You must drill the truck.

Looks good! I don't know how low you are planning on going so this may be a non-issue for you, but you got the old style ART arms with the shock mount positioned below the arm. The new ones have the shock mount above the arm. Just wanted to let you know in case this might become an issue for you in the future.

I definitely drug them a few times, . I like to think I had a little to do with them changing the design, because I called and complained about it. I got 2 new brackets and will be modifying them soon. Thanks for asking. Take care.
