So here's the deal- Truck progress pics..

It all started with the dreaded "knocking" coming from the engine bay cruising down the highway., 2 years ago. Then next is the imfamous, "Do you hear that?" as you look accross the seat to your buddy. And there it was. A blow'd bearring. Which in turn tore up the valve train on one of the cylinders.

Re: So here's the deal- Truck progress pics..

Next...

We initially thought it was the head so we bought new ones and fired the truck back up and the knocking was still there. The engine was a 307 bored .040 over.

It sat for a year and I bought a replacment motor, a reman 4 bolt 350 with flat top pistons and it sat for another year. So it sat for 2 years till a month ago we, my father and I, pulled it out with the handy hoist I picked up from a boarded member. I also aquired and engine stand from the same member and put my "new" motor on it to get it off the garage floor.

Once we pulled it out we flipped it over and pulled the oil pan and saw the damage. Said a little prayer and said it was a good little motor while it lasted.

So I salvaged the heads because they were "new" 350 heads. And the Intake and carb, Edlebrock of course.

As for the tranny, I plan to replace seals and clean it up and maybe paint it.

Re: So here's the deal- Truck progress pics..

Then...

Next was clean up of the engine bay. Now I don't have the cash to rebuild the truck the way I would like but I felt I could clean it up the best I could and paint a few things. So I have removed the fender wells and clean and painted one so far, and I have been scraping the engine bay and dousing with oven cleaner to get off as much as I can. That white stuff you see is oven cleaner. Once I get it clean I am going to spray it down with that 3M undercoating spray.

Re: So here's the deal- Truck progress pics..

1st pic is the motor.

2nd pic pic is my new Urethane mounts I picked up from Summit.

3rd pic are the "Race" mufflers I got from Summit also. I have now I dea what they sound like but at this point I figure anything is better that my single glasspack I was running.

4th pic is my Tach, also from Summit.

5th is the box of parts I am goint to have vatted so I can repaint everything. The engine is going to be red and I am going to use stock valve covers. I would love to have some finned Edlebrock covers but these will have to do for now. I have some chrome "dress up kit" valve covers that were on there before but I am going to sell those. I am also going to get another air cleaner as well.

Re: So here's the deal- Truck progress pics..

As seen in the other posts I have started to paint the truck. I am going for a satin blue with an ivory grill and top. Wheels will be black with wide whitewall tires.

I also picked up a Nova steering wheel to dress up the inside a bit. I need another seat too,

I think that truck is going to look very good and unique with the paint, trim, tire and wheel combination.

I'm w/ya on everything except the wide whites.

Keep the ralleys, paint 'em Krylon 'Dull-Aluminum' & put some blackwalls on (then drop her down a little bit).

I see your point. It's all up in the air but here are a few pics of what "style" I am trying to achieve.

My idea here is for my truck. The theme is sort of a "Shop Truck" but for a hot rod shop but a "graphics shop". I am going to use it to advertise my side business. I know it's not a "hot rod" but it will be themed that way. Right now I am painting it Flat blue with a Ivory top. and i am going for either black ot green wheels with wide whites. I am also going to put some sort of logo on the side. Sort of like the image above (crappy photoshop - but you get the idea)

Here are a few more:

Why give up the center caps? I think they work just fine.

I'm still sicking by my thoughts of painting the rims to match color you use on the top. I would use the light color on the top and grill, but not on the bottom below the trim. Take the blue all the way down to make it look lower.

The retro graphics on the door work for me...

Re: So here's the deal- Truck progress pics..

Anybody got a rendering for a 67-68 stepside. I've already come up with a farm name for the door graphic too:

Jay's Chicken Ranch
(pic of chicken)
Serving Breasts & Thighs since 1975

I'm on a low budget so black krylon "suede" paint and stock 15 green wheels and chrome center cap and some wide whites (like the ford). It's gonna be on airbags, not layed out though but level when aired out.
