Update on my 68 LS project.
I havent posted for awhile due to being super busy!!! I am in the middle of a move from Wichita Falls Texas to Phoenix Arizona. I was forced to hurry up and bolt what parts I have together so I could get the truck on the trailor to move it. The pics below are of the truck just bolted together. Ignore the body lines the truck has to come back apart to paint the frame (just Por15 right now), powder coat the spindles/brake calipers, run the brake lines, and paint the whole truck. You can see what I have done so far. The truck started as a low mileadge rust free long bed. I have shortened the frame, Z-ed the rear, shortened the bed, installed, disk brakes, drop spindles, 20 by 10's, and 18 by 8's, and the Geniii motor is just sitting in there. I have not decided if Im going to run the LS motor or a Duramax. Enjoy the pics. The first 2 pics are the truck stock.

I like it, looks good. How hard was it to weld up the bedsides without warpage so bad?

Re: Update on my 68 LS project.
What size are your Coy's?.....and what size tires are you running?
Does the rear rim sit in a little further (in relation to the fender) than the front? Truck stance looks great!!

Nice truck. Man, when those 68's are lowered they have a real sleek look to them. Sits well.

Re: Update on my 68 LS project.
Nice truck, I am a diesel fan so I would go for the duramax. A duramax stuffed in one of these trucks as the WOW! factor written all over it.

Re: Update on my 68 LS project.
Welcome to AZ... if you're here yet!
I am a huge fan of the GenIII... but a Duramax would be killer! I haven't seen one in a 67-72 yet... sure it's been done, but I haven't seen it first hand yet. The truck is looking good... keep us posted on the progress.

Re: Update on my 68 LS project.
I am presently working to put a genn III in a 68 Chevy truck, but I have many miles to go to get to your level of accomplishment. Mine is still in pieces all over the floor.

Re: Update on my 68 LS project.
Didnt warp at all. Then again it has taken me months to get it all welded. I'll stitch some here, stitch some there, go do something else and come back to it. I just dont let it get hot.

Re: Update on my 68 LS project.
Pretty sure Im going to. I have the motor that is in the truck (06 Hummer H2, 6.o litre with 4 miles) and Ive got all the parts to put together an iron block 408 gen 3 motor which should end up in there at some point.

Its just bolted it together so I could roll it on the trailor so I could bring it to Phoenix with me for Thanksgiving. One last thing in Texas to worry about. Now I just have to worry about finishing and selling my house in Texas and finding a job in Phoenix, oh yeah and the baby we have due Feb 2!!

Man, that is one of the cooler project trucks I have seen on this site!! I love the wheel comb and stance. Additionally, the shorting of the bed with the wheel look, is spot on.
Please post pictures of how you shorten the bed and the frame, if you have some of these. It looks very hard to me, but maybe you can shed some light on how this is done. Adam |

What offsets are you using on the wheels?

Re: Update on my 68 LS project.
No nothing like that. My wife is in the Air Force so it was kind of a forced move.
