Question '65 c10 - dash lights are out - what'd I do?

Hiyas poeples.

So, I replaced my tachometer(aftermarket unit) in my dash in my'65 c10.

I unhooked the wires, bulbs and plugs and unscrewed everything. I took the dash bit apart, did my install, bolted everything back up, started plugging in the bulbs and plugs and things.

The blinkers on the dash work for both sides.

None of the white light bulbs are powering on, not even the white light for the high beams bulb, nothing.

All of that stuff was working before I took everything out and put it back in.

I'm trying to figure out what I missed. The speedometer cable is back in the right place, the oil pressure gauge line is on, the big plugs on the back for the other gauges are designed to plug only onto their part.

Maybe it is something special that I'm completely missing or some monkey wiring from a previous owner... I dunno.

I am open for any ideas for troubleshooting.

Thanks people.

Is your dash well grounded? If I recall correctly, some of the sockets are metal with only one wire, so they have to ground through the dash. The plastic sockets should have two wires, if so they don't need a ground. Do your tail lights still work?

Tail lights still work - brake lights still work.

blinkers on dash and out back work.

Dome light in cab still switches on/off.

I'm guessing some wire either broke or got disconnected somewhere.

Thanks 60-66 nut,

Hiya folks.

I checked out the fuses, which are still the old original glass bulb type.

One was blown, but not black. Duh.

On another one the metal end twisted right off, but all the stuff along that circuit was still working. That was a new one for me, with autmotive fuses.

I put new fuses in and realigned the bulbs to the correct holes, so now the dash lights up again.

I'd still like to know why they blew tho', with the battery disconnected.

Hmn.

At any rate, the current crisis has been averted.

I'm glad it was something simple for a change.

Hah!

Thanks a bunch folks.
